Hunger Task Force to Benefit, Huge Classic Car & Race Show Included
West Allis, Wis. (April 27, 2009) – This Sunday, May 3rd is the once-a-year opportunity for race fans and all who are interested to drive their personal vehicles around the historic Milwaukee Mile. Once again, the Hunger Task Force of Wisconsin will benefit from this community-wide event.
All are welcome to join race fans in adding their name to the list of auto racing legends - named Foyt, Andretti, Kulwicki, Earnhardt and virtually every Indianapolis 500 winning driver – to have taken laps around The Milwaukee Mile, located on the Wisconsin State Fair grounds in West Allis.
Individuals can drive their insured personal vehicles around The Milwaukee Mile from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Minivans, passenger cars, motorcycles, work trucks, classic cars and motorcycles are among the vehicles that have participated in past Drive The Mile events. There will be signs directing vehicles into the event at Fairgrounds Gate 1, at 79th & Greenfield Avenue.
Admission for taking "three laps of fame" is two or more non-perishable food items AND $15. The Hunger Task Force staffers will collect food items and cash donations, as cash can go twice as far in helping Milwaukee’s needy families because the Hunger Task Force buys food in bulk.
As a growing right of Spring, several hundred classic cars, race cars and motorcycles will be on display in the IndyCar Series Paddock/NASCAR garage area. Hundreds of enthusiasts have already pre-registered. Racecars representing the Mid-American Stock Car Series and Vintage Modified Stock Cars are expected to be on-hand and may take occasional laps.
Racecars that race this Saturday afternoon May 2 at The Milwaukee Mile in The Midwest Enduro Stock Car Series’ 150-mile race will also be on display.
At this Sunday’s Drive The Mile event, Milwaukee Mile race tickets, merchandise, food and refreshments will be available for purchase. This is a rain or shine event.
Drivers must be 16 years of age or older, present a valid driver’s license AND proof of current vehicle insurance. There is no age limit for buckled-up passengers, who ride free.
