SLINGER STANDOUTS JOIN MID-AMERICAN ROOKIE RACE

Karie Gutknecht
Mid American Stock Car Series
February 23, 2008

(Fort Atkinson, WI) February 23 -- Ryan Gutknecht and Mark Kissinger who call Slinger Super Speedway their home track are looking to have a little fun in the Mid-American Stock Car Series this year. Kissinger is a former Thunderstock champion at Slinger Super Speedway while Gutknecht was the 2007 Rookie of the Year in that class.

Kissinger, a rookie of the year contender, has set his sights on racing the full Mid-American Stock Car Series schedule, and is very excited about it. This year he has a new sponsor on board, Culligan, a company that offers state of the art products and local water professionals that delivers the right product for any kind of water needs.

Along with Culligan, other sponsors that came aboard to help make his first full time season running the series success full are Trendsetters, a company that provides vinyl and window tinting, Noey’s Pub and Grill in St. Lawrence WI, which offers after the races specials Sunday nights. Kissinger also stated that long time sponsors ASAP towing and hauling 24 hour service out of Hartford WI will be back on board for this year along with Hartford frame specialist, which specializes in frame work on cars and trucks. Uptown body shop located in Slinger Wisconsin, which did a awesome job at painting the car this year, and P.M.F Landscape supply which provides delivery of landscaping materials such as topsoil, woodchips, stone, and Christmas trees.

Kissinger credits his car owners Mark P and Lucille Kissinger and his crew, Matt Syzmack and Craig Kowloski, without whom racing wouldn’t be possible.

Kissinger and team are really looking forward to running the Mid-American Series this season with the goal of being the top rookie. He will be joining the ranks of the Mid-American series with one championship under his belt coming at Slinger Super speedway in the Thunderstock division and five feature wins along with number of top finishes. “Last year we focused on racing at Slinger in the Sportsman class which follows the Mid-American rules so we could get a handle on the car. It was a season of ups and downs learning the new car, we finished 10th but missed three races,” said Kissinger

“We raced a few of the Mid-American races last season and had a lot of fun, the team is looking forward to the challenges of traveling to each of the different tracks on the schedule.” When asked why Kissinger Motorsports decided to join the Mid American series he stated, “Everyone is so friendly and willing to help, which is huge when you’re the new kid on the block. And Doug and Julie are always more than willing to answer any questions I or the team may have.”

Oak Creek’s other racing Gutknecht is looking to join the fun found in the Mid-American Stock Car series, and will be another rookie contender. Ryan Gutknecht is the nephew of Mid-American Stock car driver Bobby Gutknecht. The younger of the Gutknecht’s had a successful 2007 season racing at Slinger Super Speedway in the Thunderstock division. Finishing 4th in points and was named the 2007 rookie of the year, and had an average finish of 5.9.

“I figured I may as well go from the Thunderstocks to the Mid-Am class, racing is in my blood and we have always done it as a family. So jumping in to a Mid-Am car allows me to keep racing with my family. Last year racing at Slinger full time was hard on the family. They had to rush to make it back to some of my races at Slinger,” stated Gutknecht

“I’ve had other options but racing with Uncle Bob, Swan and the other big names found in the Mid-Am’s just seemed like the thing to do.” Gutknecht also stated. “I am really looking forward to finally getting a chance to race against the Shears, and Kissinger, we hang out all the time so this season should just be a lot of fun.”

Ryan Gutknecht is looking at running the full season, with the support of Bobby Gutknecht, and the rest of his family. Gutknecht also has sponsorship from Oak Creek Automotive, Lingford Construction and is in the process of finding other sponsors to help fund his 2008 Racing Efforts.

The Mid-American Stock Car Series will begin its “Sweet 16” season on Sunday, April 13th at Rockford Speedway in Love’s Park, IL.
