HAPPY 4th of JULY

I hope everyone has a safe Fourth of July. It is a good day to remember what a great country we live in. We have so much more than most in this world thus making it tough to know if we are blessed or cursed. Think about that for a minute with me.

Here is what Jesus said. Matthew 7:13-14 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." And Mark 10:23-25 Jesus looked around and said to his disciples, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!" The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus said again, "Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

Do you see why I think it could be a curse more than a blessing to be part of the very rich and comfortable American life? Jesus tells us that the way to salvation is narrow and then that it is even more difficult for the rich to see the need and the way.

I hope you will thank God for your citizenship here in the USA but as good as it is to be an American it is even more valuable and important to be a citizen of Heaven and only God grants that. He grants that citizenship when we surrender to Him, when we admit that we are unworthy due to our sin against Him and that only Jesus can sign off on our citizenship. We have to agree that Jesus is LORD and has all authority over us. Have you reached out to Him? Where is your citizenship? Don’t miss it!

One more thing, as I often remind people. Thank those who have served, are serving and will serve this country. Many pay a price that is high and on a non-return basis. We thank those who keep us safe but in the military as well as the men and women in the police force, fire, clergy, hospitals, etc… and the men and women that serve at race tracks helping this sport.
