WOW, What a Couple of Weeks, part 1

What a couple of weeks for Jeremy Spoonmore. At Rockford he had big problem, during the week Mid Am showed why they are such a great race series as many wanted to help the guy who had trouble even to the point of the point leader saying, “here is a motor” to run good enough at Fest to win a championship. I want to look at the couple of weeks and hope you will too.

As I was praying for the guys that had a tough time at Rockford and the rest of you too, I thanked God for the protection He gave at Rockford and being with them even in the middle of their day. We all know it could have been much worse than it was and God showed His strength in protection along with His kindness and goodness. He also gave us a very real picture of eternal things. As much as Heaven is a reality, so is Hell and I would like to share two views and a challenge from what I saw and heard. Hear the words of Jeremy and Travis, “HOT!”; “I panicked”; “could not get unbuckled”; “scary” both said, they “could not get a breath of air”; “dark” (from the smoke and fire). WOW! Those are words and pictures of Hell. We do not want to miss this wake-up call.

Here is what the Bible says about Hell in Luke 16:22-26 22 "The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham's side. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. 24 So he called to him, 'Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.' 25 "But Abraham replied, 'Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. 26 And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross over from there to us.' (from NIV 1984) and in Revelation 20:10b,… was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur,... They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (from the NIV 1984) That, the picture and reality of Hell, should scare us. It is not a place that a party is going on. Hell is for all that do not repent of their sin, their own ways. It is a fire with all the pain and smell of fire.

Each of us have fallen short of the glory of God and our sin has bought a one way ticket into Hell. But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our LORD. We have to seek Him while He is near and we believe that time could be right now for some reading this. Turn to God and confess that you have sinned, no matter great or small. Then agree that He is who He says He is – LORD, God, Savior. Ask Him to be Master over your life. Would you right now? Jeremy and Travis were glad to escape from the flames. Think about never being able to do that. Think about an eternity of pain and suffering and knowing that God wanted you to turn to Him and be rescued. I am not trying to sell fire insurance, escape from Hell. Instead, I am urging you to want to be with God and His people in Heaven to worship Him. So I pray and hope you would turn to Him.
