WHAT'S YOUR BANNER?

FLAG DAY 2012

One of the cool things at the race track is the banners and flags up all over the track, pits, parking lot. We see them everywhere. There are flags for the favorite driver, banners for the sponsors and of course there are the flags that govern the race at the flag stand. The banners and flags let us know what is important to the person whether that is a fan or the track or series that is in town.

At opening ceremonies attention is drawn to the American flag as the nation anthem is song. We should be reminded often as we see the flag waving that we live in a great nation and the price for the freedoms we enjoy. Each color and shape on the flag represents things that are important to us.

As I think about this I am reminded of two things from God’s Word. One, Psalm 60:4 But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner to be unfurled against the bow. In our reliance on the LORD we are to show Him as our king and the one we serve. Two, Exodus 17:15 Moses built an altar and called it The LORD is my Banner (Yahweh-Nissi). It means that there is a rallying point which is the LORD God. Just as the flags and banners at the track point to something so should our life point to the LORD. Does my life point to Jesus? Does your life point to Jesus? I hope so.
