May is a special month. Racing gets into full swing in the Wisconsin and Rockford areas. Also there are special holidays and celebrations. Let’s take a quick look at them and honor those that deserve a big THANK YOU!
Racing got kicked off at Madison and other tracks around the state earlier this month and this weekend there are big events at many including MIS, Columbus, the Dells, LaCrosse, Golden Sands, WIR, Rockford and Slinger. The season opener is at MIS on Sunday. It will be the regular season opener and feature Late models, sportsmen and legends. It should be a great show and we will have chapel at 11:00 am. Come join us.
For our family we had a huge event as my Dad hit a milestone birthday this month. It was cool to have the five of his kids together. It was really special.
Sunday May 13th was Mothers Day. I hope you took time to honor and recognize your mom that day. They are deserving of much more than just a day a year but especially on that day they should be thanked.
Then on Saturday May 19th was Armed Forces Day. A day we honor all those that have served in the different branches of Service to keep this great country safe and free. As stated from USDoD: President Harry S. Truman led the effort to establish a single holiday for citizens to come together and thank our military members for their patriotic service in support of our country. On August 31, 1949, Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of an Armed Forces Day to replace separate Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force Days. The single day celebration stemmed from the unification of the Armed Forces under the Department of Defense. Thank you men and women that are serving and have served!
Monday May 28th is another special day. The month culminates with Memorial Day. This is a day when we remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice of their lives. It is difficult to thank the families for a lost one that stood strong to the very end. To those families that have lost a loved one -- today we say sorry for what you have had to give.
We do say thank you. More than that, we pray that you would be comforted by the LORD GOD. We share in your sorrow yet are strengthened by the Everlasting Father. He knows what it is to lose a child and His Son was perfect in every way. Jesus died for our freedom and if we admit to our sin and seek His forgiveness and call out to Him as LORD we will be saved. Have you done that? Have you reached out and given your life to Him? Like a soldier it cannot just be a once a week thing. It must be a life given in surrender and brokenness.
See you at the track soon and have a great day in the SONshine,
Todd
Titus 3:4-7 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
Romans 3:22b-24 There is no difference, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
Revelation 4:11a "You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things,
