On November 11th America honors the Veterans who have served this nation. I want to thank each one of you that have served from grandparents of generation past in my family, to my Dad, to my brother-in-law, to my uncles, my cousins, and my nephew currently serving. You have given much more than your time, you have given your safety and comfort, laid your lives on the line for the freedoms we have. Thank you!
It is a good example, in which I do not deserve the comfort of living in this nation as I have not participated in the military service. Yet I am allowed the comfort and freedom, as if I did serve. God gives us salvation and the hope of eternal life in the presence of God in Heaven and the Lord Jesus Christ who paid the price, (death, even that of the cross, a horrible torture, Philippians 2:6-9) for any that will follow Him in repentance.
The Bible uses the soldier as an example of a follower of Christ in 2 Timothy 2:2-4 (2) And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. (3) Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. (4) No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs-he wants to please his commanding officer. This Scripture teaches that; a) we are under a commander. We all serve a commander and we have three choices – Self, Satan or Savior, God. Just like my Dad made the choice to enlist and serve in WWII, we choose. My Dad knew he was to give completely to his country and commander, willing to sacrifice whatever he was called to do. He served well! (THANKS DAD!) We are to enlist into God’s army and serve wholeheartedly, with our whole life. b) we shouldn't expect it to be easy. We are to be prepared for it to be hard, risky, even give our life. Just as my Dad knew he was going to be in harms way, in the Christian walk, we too are called to endure hardship. In this country, right now, we do not see much of it. In some countries, the cost of believing in Jesus could be your life. c) there is a warning not to be involved in the world. As believers we need to be careful of where we go, what we listen to, what we watch. We are in the world but cannot be of the world. What great teaching this is!
Again, to the Veteran’s – THANK YOU!
Have a great day racin’ in the SONshine and thank a Vet when you see them.
