The God of miracles still today

Pastor Todd Christopherson
Mid American Stock Car Series
May 24, 2010

Friday we had the privilege of going to Grundy County Speedway in Morris, IL with the Mid-Am Stock Car Series. What a good night of racing. It was nice to have a good car count and see good heat and feature racing. I was asked to pray for Tim Goodlet and we will continue to pray for him and his recovery and return to the flag stand at Grundy. As I thought about it I began to pray as I often pray for those who are ill and I want to share that with you.

I pray first for God’s will to be done. He is perfect in every way including His timing. He is able. God is completely capable of healing even from the death bed if He wills it that way.

However, it is not always God’s will to heal. Sometimes God leaves the illness or injury to get our attention, sometimes to humble us, sometimes it is not the right time and that is why we want His will and timing not ours. There was an account of a family out East who lost two very young children in an accident and at the funeral a large number of people gave their lives to the Lord and His service. So it was for His glory and ultimately that is what we want, God to be glorified and honored.

Second, I always pray for God to comfort. Jesus tells us that the Holy Spirit comforts and councils. Psalm 103 says He loves and cares for His children. It is throughout the Bible that we find God loves and cares for us.

Third, I pray that the same God who created the earth and mankind, divided the water, raised the dead, healed the sick, did incredible miracles, is the same God today and can heal, and so with boldness we can ask God for a miracle.

It may be a miracle of healing the ill or changing a heart away from harmful behavior or the greatest miracle of all – salvation. God is still doing miracles, so confidently we ask in Your will oh Lord, to heal Tim and bring him back to the track.

Can I join you in praying for God to move miraculously in your life? Let me know and I will pray.

Have a great day racin’ in the SONshine,

Todd
