NEWTON, Iowa (May 17, 2012) - - While NASCAR driver Matt Carter continues to pursue sponsorship in order to return to the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) scene, he has been hustling in the garage area over the past month working in a variety of roles with Go Green Racing (GGR).

Carter’s obvious hard-work has paid off. This weekend, the Denver, North Carolina native will practice and qualify the No. 87 AM / FM Energy Wood Pellet Stoves Toyota Camry for NEMCO Motorsports at Iowa Speedway.

The 31-year old will temporally pinch-hit for car owner Joe Nemechek who will be partaking in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series activities at Charlotte (N.C.) Speedway in an attempt to earn a berth into the NASCAR All-Star Race Saturday night.

While the avid racecar driver won’t be behind the wheel for race day, he will spot for the former NASCAR Nationwide Series champion while continue to hope to break barriers in an effort to return to the cockpit on a more frequent basis.

“There’s that saying, out of sight, out of mind,” Carter said. “I had the privilege to drive for Go Green Racing last year, so when they gave me a call and said they needed some help, they asked me to come out to the track and lend a hand, I really couldn’t refuse. This weekend though, it will feel good to get back behind the wheel of a racecar. I’m hoping to dial in the No. 87 AM / FM Energy Wood Pellet Stoves Toyota Camry for Joe and give him a good-handling car that will run near the front on Sunday.”

While Carter will be the first to tell you, he’s extremely anxious to get back racing every weekend; he still remains hopeful that something will come to fruition soon – making it a reality other than a vision.

“I really try and stay out of the spotlight until we have something to announce,” he offered. “Like everyone else out there – we’re talking to a few companies in hopes something will materialize, we’ll just keep digging and hope it happens soon. In the meantime, I’ll keep plugging away helping out Go Green, NEMCO or whoever. I’m not going to give up.”
