TALLADEGA, Alabama (May 6, 2012) - - Chad Hackenbracht’s third ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards start at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway will be one to remember. The 20-year old found himself in the hunt for his first career victory in the No. 58 Kindify Chevrolet Impala including leading 38 laps in the International Motorsports Hall of Fame 250.

When Mother Nature soaked the 2.66-mile superspeedway on Thursday afternoon, the teams would be denied their crucial three-hour practice session in the morning followed by qualifying later in the afternoon. With the field set according to the ARCA rule book, the sophomore driver found himself ninth in the 43-car lineup.

A short practice session on Friday morning allowed the CGH Motorsports team led by crew chief Kevin Reed to “shake down” their automobile, making sure it was ready to compete in the fourth race of the season.

When the green flag dropped, the No. 58 Kindify Chevrolet Impala was quickly on the move. With coaching from spotter Tim Fedewa, Hackenbracht was able to maneuver himself into the top-five by lap five. Seventeen laps later, he rose two positions sitting third in the overall rundown.

Despite an array of early race cautions, Hackenbracht maintained a presence inside the top-five with Reed beginning to plan his pit stop strategy for the team’s lone-trip to pit lane for the 94-lap event. With the team on edge of possibly having to pit under green, the yellow flag would waive on lap 52 for debris knocking that scenario from the playing cards. A lightning fast pit stop by the CGH Motorsports team which consisted of fuel only was able to raise the No. 58 Kindify Chevrolet to the top spot for the impending restart.

Through the race’s second half, Hackenbracht in his family-owned machine would control the field and appeared to have the car to beat. However, when the caution yet waived with seven laps remaining, the lead pack would again be on the bumper of the No. 58.

Despite restarting the race perfectly on lap 90, second-place competitor Matt Lofton made a bold jump to the high side and with drafting help from Brandon McReynolds, the two were able to work their way around the No. 58 Kindify Chevrolet Impala in turns one and two with Hackenbracht quickly tucking himself into third.

Coming to the white flag, Hackenbracht began preparing to make his final attempt to resume the lead. Needing drafting help, Hackenbracht latched onto the back of the No. 32 of McReynolds and was able to shove him past Lofton. Despite a gallant effort, Hackenbracht himself attempted to make a defying pass to net his first ARCA victory, but instead had to settle for third, his career-best on a restrictor plate track.

“It was a good day for the No. 58 Kindify Chevrolet and everyone at CGH Motorsports,” said Hackenbracht. “We made the right call on the pit stop and that put us out front. I knew on that last restart that the guys behind me were going to try something and we did everything we could to avoid it, but sometimes that’s just how restrictor plate racing goes. I appreciate the hard work from everyone on the team. We’re all extremely thankful to Kindify for jumping onboard last minute I hope we made them proud. Maybe this run will help pick up additional sponsorship so we can continue to try and run a full season.”

His fifth career top-five finish occurred in his 32nd ARCA Racing Series race. Hackenbracht also moved to third in the championship standings now 70 markers behind point’s leader Brennan Poole.

Next up on the tour is the fifth stop of the season at the famed Toledo Speedway, dubbed a hometown race for the popular driver. The Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care is set for Sunday, May 20. The green flag is set to fly shortly after 2:00 p.m. with live coverage on SPEED. Hackenbracht will make his third career start at the half-mile oval and look to improve on his eighth place run there last fall.
