BROOKLYN, Michigan (June 15, 2011) - - Fresh off his career-best finish of seventh last Saturday afternoon at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, Chad Hackenbracht and his family-owned CGH Motorsports team ride a recent waive of momentum heading to Michigan International Speedway (MIS) for Friday’s RainEater Wiper Blades 200.
The team’s waive though hasn’t come without some chops along the way. Two weeks ago at Chicagoland Speedway, Hackenbracht, the New Philadelphia, Ohio native had carried his No. 58 CGH Motorsports Chevrolet Impala to a nine-second lead before a right front tire exploded on his bow-tie sending the rising star into the outside wall.
Heavily damaged, the team needed some quick help to repair their automobile in time for the eighth race of the season. Thankfully, Performance Vehicle Works (PVW) stepped up to the plate and completely repaired the team’s car in time for Hackenbracht’s second-start at the two-mile oval.
Not only did the team want to bring one of their most potent cars in their fleet to the Motor City, but the freshman team is focused on some redemption after Chicagoland. Armed with one of their favorite hot rods and the defending Michigan ARCA crew chief winner Kevin Reed, who serves as director of competition at CGH Motorsports everyone is hopeful for bigger and better things on Friday.
“First, I have to thank Timmy (McKichan) and everyone at Performance Vehicle Works for coming to our aid to get our Chicagoland car repaired,” offered Hackenbracht. “It was our intention all along to take this car to Michigan. When the tire blew at Chicagoland, I thought we were going to be in trouble. Thankfully, this racing community is tight and people such as Timmy have risen up to the occasion to help those in need.”
The 19-year old added, “I’m ready for Michigan. We had a decent run there last year but as a team, we’ve made some major improvements over the course of the last year. Kevin (Reed, director of competition), obviously knows how to win there and with Rob (Torrey, crew chief) knowledge on the bigger tracks, I would be shocked if we were not a contender on Friday.”
Reed, the 2010 ARCA Racing Series crew chief of the year is equally pumped about Friday’s festivities. “It was such joy to win last year at Michigan and I badly want to do it again with Chad and this CGH Motorsports team. This is a great, close-knit family who deserves to have some good luck after some of the obstacles they’ve faced this season. I think we have a strong setup and I know Chad will get up on the wheel, so I’m eager for the race to be here.”
Based on last year’s experience at MIS, the former National Asphalt Legends champion knows he has to be prepared for anything. “Even though Michigan is a big place, you still can get in trouble. Not only that, but you also have to worry about whether the finish will come down to fuel. Hopefully, as a team we can override those potential setbacks and focus on one thing, winning!”
Entering Michigan, Hackenbracht has 17 career ARCA starts to his credit. In those races, he has delivered two top-10 finishes at New Jersey Motorsports Park (May 2011) and Pocono (Pa.) Raceway (June 2010) including a career-best of seventh. The CGH Motorsports team has also delivered top-20 finishes in six of the first seven races in 2011.
CGH Motorsports is actively seeking additional marketing partners for the full 2011 ARCA Racing Series schedule. Single, multi and full-season placements are available on the team’s No. 58 entries. Interested parties are urged to contact Jordan Dahl at 570.234.5449 or jordan@cghmotorsports.com.
