HUNTERSVILLE, North Carolina (June 17, 2011) - - After rain forced the cancellation of the second NorthEastern Midget Association (NEMA) event of the season, Jeremy Frankoski had some unexpected down time, so he decided to make a trip to visit family.

Little did the Huntersville, North Carolina resident know that he would become inspired from what became of the welcomed trip. While visiting his mother and sister, Frankoski was asked to attend a benefit where his sister’s husband, Brian Yurka, a member of the band WATTS On TAP were providing the musical entertainment for a youngster named Preston who is currently battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

More than willing to attend, Frankoski had the opportunity to meet Preston’s supporters on Sunday, June 12 at Union City Fire Station in Union City, New York. The gathering benefit offered music, 50 / 50 raffle, two different types of auctions and a bake sale.

“Everything happens for a reason,” Frankoski said. “It’s a disappointing that we were rained out at Twin State Speedway, but the chance to support a courageous boy like Preston made up for it ten fold. It was a neat event and it was electrifying to see the community come together to support the family. It was truly an honorable moment.”

In March, the former USAC Ford Focus Carolina champion was named an Ambassador to Racing 2 Cure’s program, so the opportunity to expand his off-track duties was essential.

“With Racing 2 Cure’s message, it’s important to attend benefits or find benefits like this close to some of my races. It means a lot to me to be able to spend time and learn about the person outside of the turmoil that they are dealing with. Seeing the smiles on everyone’s face made the trip worth it.”

Feeling refreshed, Frankoski now heads to Thunder Bowl Speedbowl in Barre, Vermont for round three of the season with his Adam Cantor Racing (ACR) team.

“I’m ready to get back in the gas. We had a good showing at Waterford, but we’re thriving on more, so hopefully the weather will play in our favor this weekend and we can have a strong run on Sunday afternoon!”
