SYDNEY, Australia (March 28, 2012) - - This Sunday April 1, Australian race car driver Michael Lia will attend an event to raise funds for Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect). Aspect is Australia’s largest not-for-profit service provider for people with autism.

Raising awareness and funds to support people with autism is an issue close to Lia’s heart, as his seven-year old niece Prudence was diagnosed with autism three years ago.

The fundraiser will be held at Rene’s Pizzeria in Croydon Park, where five dollars from each large pizza sold will be donated to Aspect’s Western Sydney School for students with autism.

“Aspect is an organization that is close to not only mine but my family’s hearts and lives,” said Lia. “After the diagnosis of my niece with autism three years ago we have seen her blossom into a wonderful outgoing child thanks to the support and educational facilities provided by Aspect. I am so pleased to provide any help to an organization which can make such a huge difference to families like my own that are touched by autism.”

When it comes to the other passion in his life, Lia is set to relocate to Colorado within the next month to pursue his racing career. After running Late Models at Franklin County (Va.) Speedway and Ace (N.C.) Speedway respectively, Lia plans to advance himself into the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards later this year.

When he does climb back behind the wheel, the Autism Spectrum Australia logo is set to adorn his automobile throughout the 2012-2013 seasons.
