MOORESVILLE, North Carolina (January 4, 2011) - - With the Holidays officially secured in the rear-view mirror, January is upon the racing world – which means the running of the 26th annual Chili Bowl Nationals presented by General Tire held at the Quik Trip Center Expo Square is on the horizon.
For Tanner Berryhill, a turned stock-car enthusiast with a spattering amount of open-wheel experience is eager to compete in one of the most recognized events on the surface of the Motorsports arena. The opportunity is clearly a belated, but welcomed Christmas gift.
Berryhill, 18, who quickly gained attention and notoriety for his presence in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKPSE) has teamed up with Cory Kruseman Racing (CKR) to make his third attempt in the historic event. In addition to joining a potent operation like CKR, Berryhill will be able to lean on the advice and compete with the legendary P.J. Jones, Kruseman and Freestyle Dirtbike rider Brian Deegan.
Gunning to steal the spotlight under the CKR banner, the former Chili Bowl Rookie of the Year is anxious to get to the Tulsa, Oklahoma-based track.
“I can’t think of a better way of kicking off the 2012 season than competing in the Chili Bowl,” said Berryhill, whose anticipating a hectic racing schedule this year. “It’s a real honor to be associated with Cory Kruseman Racing and to have the teammates I do, who are all legends in their own rights. Hopefully, the week will go good and we’ll have something to show for our efforts when the checkered flag is flown.”
The Bixby, Oklahoma native will be driving the No. 17k automobile. His marketing partner line-up for the highly anticipated contest will include AmericashAdvance.com, New Gulf Energy, Excel Therapy, Lucas Oil and Metal Mulisha.
“Without my sponsors, I would not be able to compete in the Chili Bowl this year,” Berryhill sounded. “There’s certainly pressure to perform in this race not only because of the team and the people supporting you; but the nature of this race. I believe the key to success will be determination and drive. I’m ready to go – it’s just now waiting for next week to get here.”
In addition to USAC, Berryhill also has competed in Late Models, the CARS Pro Cup Series (formally known as the USARacing Pro Cup Series), the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards and seven starts in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Series.
