BRISTOL, Tennessee (March 15, 2012) - - The season opener for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKPSE) is just days away and Spraker Racing Enterprises (SRE) and driver Chad Finchum are locked together and ready for battle Saturday afternoon at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway for the running of the Window Wax 125 presented by SealWrap Repair Tape.
Both the team and driver are no strangers to the NKPSE tour, but the duo will unite together as one in the No. 37 Texas Roadhouse Toyota Camry looking for a strong run that could propel them to a potential championship run. In pairing with SRE, Finchum brought his family-owned Toyota Camry to Spraker’s stables along with some of his crew members to accelerate their chances of a memorable performance.
The 17-year old Finchum, a native of Knoxville, Tennessee has an extra incentive to run well this weekend as he’ll literally be competing in his backyard. Despite no prior NASCAR starts at “The World’s Fastest Half-Mile,” he does have four prior NASCAR K&N Pro Series East starts dishing out two top-10 finishes including a pair of career-best finishes of seventh at Bowman-Gray (N.C.) Stadium and Gresham (Ga.) Motorsports Park respectively.
With the leadership of veteran racer and crew chief Jeff Spraker at the helm, the teenager’s chances of securing a top-10 finish are reasonable in the 125-lap shootout.
“We’re excited to be paired with a young-gun like Chad Finchum,” offered Spraker. “I had the opportunity to witness for myself the talent of Chad last year and now we’re on the same team, so we’re hoping to ignite some sparks in the garage and on the track with a good finish in our No. 37 Texas Roadhouse Toyota Camry.”
Spraker continued, “You know, Bristol’s a tough place. It’s no piece of pie. It can be either real good to you or has the potential to ruin your day. It’s the opening race of the year, so everyone wants to do well, including us because it can easily set the tone for the year. We’re expecting to have a quick car with a hungry driver, so we should have all the components to take the checkered flag inside the top-10 with a little luck.”
Finchum further accelerates his racing career after running in several Late Model contests and UARA-STARS Late Model Stock Series events last year which included four wins overall.
The inaugural Window Wax 125 presented by SealWrap Repair Tape at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway is set for this Saturday, March 17 with a set liftoff at 6:15 p.m. The event will be tape-delayed on SPEED with a soon-to-be determined airing date.
Mike Bliss, Dexter Bean, Drew Brannon, Clay Campbell, Kerry Earnhardt, Joey Gase, Ron Hornaday Jr., P.J. Jones, Alex Kennedy, Brandon McReynolds, Steve Park, David Ragan, Scott Riggs, David Reutimann, Casey Roderick, Michelle Theriault, Darrell Waltrip and Smokey Yunick are just some of the drivers that Spraker, who also has starts for himself in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series (NKNPS), NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) and NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) has been affiliated with in one capacity or another through SRE.
