MOORESVILLE, North Carolina (August 16, 2011) - - INEX Legend Car Series driver Zach Knowles had a lot to embrace this summer. A big move from the Lone Star state of Texas to the Tar Heel State of North Carolina had the 21-year old looking towards a new beginning of his racing career which included the 2011 edition of the Summer Shootout.

While the Houston, Texas native didn’t compete in the full seven-week schedule, Knowles did have his shining moments including a stout third place qualifying run within the first two weeks of the Shootout. Despite being entangled in some incidents not of his own doing, Knowles was able to rebound with respectable finishes that further propelled the driver of the No. 51 Bosch automobile to become more focused on not just the present but the future too.

“Even though the Summer Shootout didn’t quite turn out exactly like I had hoped, I will never regret the track time, the bonding or the experience of racing at the quarter mile-track of Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway,” said Knowles.

In-between the annual Summer Shootout, Knowles also had the opportunity to test in a Late Model for the potent Lee Faulk Racing (LFR) team at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway. He utilized the test in order to get a full assessment of where he stood in the lines of the racing brigade.

Jumping in-between the seats didn’t seem to faze the driver but instead give him ammunition towards reaching his goals down the Motorsports frontline.

“I love racing the Legends car,” added Knowles, who now resides in Mooresville, North Carolina. “But, I want to become a successful racecar driver and I know it’s going to take a lot more than a Legends car to make that happen. Simply put, that was the point of testing with Lee Faulk Racing. They are a great group of guys and they are the ones that I want to lead my career. I (we) know it’s not going to come easy, but I didn’t make the move from Texas thinking it was just going to be handed to me. I knew I was going have to work hard, harder than I’ve ever had to before in my life.

I’m still learning things every day. I’ll have that rookie stripe for a long while, but that’s okay with me because I want to do it the right way. I’ve been fortune enough to have Bosch become a big supporter of Zach Knowles Motorsports over the years and to have such a historic name in racing stand behind me is monumental. Hopefully, they’ll be able to climb with me in some form, but I want them to know that everything I’ve taken in so far this year would not have been possible without them.”

The Texan also knows that mingling with others in the racing community is important not only to help keep his name circling but also for the benefits of learning and listening.

“Since the beginning of the year, I’ve been fortunate enough to meet some really good people in racing,” he explained. “Some of them drivers, some crew members and even the fans too. It’s important to pay attention to what everyone is saying, taking in what you think can help you while also putting things in your memory bank for down the road. I still have a long way to go, but I’m just glad to be here.”
