One of the newer luxury brands is Toyota’s marque, Lexus, but in its short span of time in the premium car segment of the market, it has become one of the most sought after luxury cars in the industry. 20 years is what it took to make the Lexus brand become serious competition to the likes of Mercedes-Benz and BMW. This is due to the company’s dedication to producing high performance car loaded with fun and functional technological features and luxurious interior designs.
The company’s drive to produce the best luxury sedan in the world started with the inception in the market of the Lexus LS400 which soon grew up as the Lexus LS430 with better performance and styling. The evolution of the flagship model did not stop there though, this is apparent in the newly unveiled Lexus LS460 which the company dubbed as the best luxury car in the world.
The claim to supremacy of the brand is their way to challenge their competitors which including the Mercedes-Benz E and S-Class models, and the BMW 5-Series and 7-Series vehicles. Their claim is due to the fact that they have released a car that not only performs above par but is also aesthetically of high value. The exterior styling of the car is an eye candy for it seriously commands attention wherever it goes. All these are duly because of the efforts exerted to make the design of the car look sleek and stylish. From the front bumper to the rear, the Lexus LS460 pleases the eye with the luxurious aura that it exudes.
The car’s interior also exudes luxury as it is packed with cool features that anybody would surely want installed in their car. The car ensures the comfort of its occupants even on extended trips thanks to its reclining heated bucket seats that would surely make anyone in no hurry to leave his or her seat. The interior also houses a cool box, dual-zone rear HVAC controls and a folding table to boot. If those are not enough to make this car truly a luxury sedan, then the ottoman and the shiatsu massager thrown into the mix will surely make the value of the Lexus LS460 go up a notch or two in anyone’s book.
Those features are not the only advanced thing in this sedan because through technological advances, the car is the first ever car in the world to have a computer-controlled eight-speed automatic transmission. This precisely engineered gearbox along with the 4.6-liter V8 engine allows the car to accelerate to 60 miles per hour from a standstill in just 5.4 seconds. While the V8 engine unit may seem like a power-hungry gas-guzzling powerplant, the Lexus LS460 actually has an EPA rating of 27 miles per gallon on highway driving. The reason for the high fuel efficiency rating of the car is the eight-speed transmission that optimizes the engine’s performance giving more value for every drop of fuel that the vehicle consumes.
While the V8 engine provides much power, the car is quiet and smooth during operation, this is due to the design of the car and the materials used that not only cancels noise from pouring inside the car but also reduces vibrations. With the cancellation of noise and vibration, comfort of the car’s occupants is ensured. And to give them peace of mind especially when cruising at a high speed that the Lexus LS460 can offer, the brakes are also improved from the previous flagship model. The brakes now being employed are electronically controlled. The on board computer analyzes the different input from other on board computers to determine how much stopping power it will direct to each wheel according to the driving condition.
