“Rising Phenom Rightfully Earns First Win Of 2011”
JUSTIN, Texas (August 5, 2011) - - Fresh off a respectable outing in the Legends Big Money 100 at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway (CMS) Tuesday night, Michael Dabney Jr. made the 18-hour plus road trek to his home state of Texas for a little more Legend Car Series action.
On Thursday night, Dabney Jr. returned to his racing roots at Texas Motor Speedway where he completed in the annual Thursday Night Summer Stampede. What his competition wasn’t expecting was his No. 5 Michael Dabney Jr. Motorsports entry to terrorize the field and storm to his first win of the season under the lights.
The victory in itself was soothing for the Crandall, Texas native who also recently completed a commendable seven-week stretch in the Summer Shootout Series which was also held at CMS in Concord, North Carolina.
“Man, I cannot tell you how this feels,” said the 22-year old rising phenom. “I was just planning to come out here and have some fun and have a shot at winning. But to be able to experience victory lane again, it’s incredibly sweet.”
The rising star added, “It was pretty awesome to have my dad here. I said earlier in the week that I was going to try and win a race for him soon. I’m glad that it happened when he actually could be around to enjoy it. He’s my biggest supporter and critic when it comes to my racing career – I know I wouldn’t be as far as I am today without him.”
Extremely humbled by the win on Thursday night, Dabney Jr. will continue to work on his No. 5 Michael Dabney Jr. Motorsports automobile as he is expected to return next week and aim for back-to-back win at TMS’s quarter-mile oval.
“It’s always refreshing to come back to your racing roots,” Dabney Jr. sounded. “I have a lot of memories there and last night we made a few more. Life really doesn’t get any better than this.”
Once his racing endeavors are complete in the Lone Star state, he will return to North Carolina and re-focus his racing efforts for the remainder of the 2011 season and brace for 2012.
“I’m going to be racing this fall and during the winter. I’m also going to be doing some testing and if everything pans out like I think it’s going to, we’re going to have great news soon that will only enhance my learning curve as I try and work my way up the racing ladder. I’m extremely appreciative to everyone that is helping me, it leaves me speechless.”
