MILLVILLE, New Jersey (September 15, 2009) - - It was no surprise but a welcomed effort for Robb Brent and the Justin Allgaier Motorsports (JAM) team as the New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) awarded the team with a season-best fourth place finish in Sunday’s The South Jersey Building Trades 150. The run also garnished the Shelby Township, Michigan native a career best finish in the ARCA RE/MAX Series.

It was evident that partaking in a private test at NJMP following the second ARCA RE/MAX Series event at Pocono Raceway in August paid off. With new crew chief Dave Leiner atop of the box, Leiner and Brent glued their heads together putting a game plan together for the two rounds of practice on Saturday afternoon.

In both practice sessions, Brent rose into the fifth spot, which is where the No. 36 Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge Charger stayed for both practice efforts.

“I’m very happy with the car,” Brent said. “I really like this track. It’s a nice place with an aggressive but fast layout. I think we should be pretty good in qualifying.”

Qualifying would be setup based upon how the team’s practiced in groups of five or six cars at ten minute increments. Brent was placed in the first group of cars where his fastest lap of 83.409 seconds at 97.112 miles per hour maneuvered the team sixth on the grid.

“It was pretty good, I just wish we could have had a little better of a run but it’s a long race,” added Brent, who cut his teeth road course racing in the Panoz Racing Series. We’ll be alright.”

From the drop of the green flag Sunday afternoon, Brent quickly moved into the top-five which is where his Mike Allgaier machine remained for much of the first half of the race.

A trip to pit road for fuel and tires would work to the team’s advantage with the caution flag waiving just a few laps later which allowed Brent to catch-up to the rear of the lead-pack group.

Sitting solidly in the top-five Brent quickly went to work on his competition on the restart, quickly jumping into third before eventually sliding back to fourth. A torrid pace by three full-time road course ringers ahead of Brent would keep Brent behind but not out of the game.

A pit stop inside the race’s 15 final laps and another second full-course caution inside the last 10 laps of the race set up the prime opportunity for Brent to make his move towards the lead.

On the restart, Brent quickly shifted through the gear boxes and tried to out-maneuver his fellow road course rings but to no avail. Still sitting in a great position, Brent would easily cruise to the line collecting a fourth place finish, the team’s first top-five finish of the year.

“I’m happy but I wish we could have finished on the podium,” explained Brent. “We had a good car just not enough time. Patrick (Long), Parker (Kligerman) and Spencer (Pumpelly) were definitely the class of the field. I think we just needed a little more time, I was just proud to be able to bring this Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge home in the top-five.”

With his exceptional run on Sunday, Brent overtook Tom Hessert III for ninth in the ARCA RE/MAX Series point standings and now holds five point advantage from the 10th spot.

Next up for the ARCA RE/MAX Series is a return trip to Salem Speedway for the final half-mile short track battle of the year. In April, Brent qualified 18th but patiently maneuvered through the field and claimed his first top-10 finish of the year with a 10th place run.

Prior to joining Justin Allgaier Motorsports, Brent participated in the ARCA RE/MAX Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driving for NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski and Brad Keselowski Racing. In his 34 ARCA starts, Brent has acquired three top-five finishes and 11 top-10 efforts. Brent notched his career best qualifying effort of second at Kentucky Speedway last year. He has led the ARCA RE/MAX Series pack twice for 21 laps in 2008. His best finish in the NCWTS occurred at Nashville Superspeedway in his inaugural truck debut where he finished 21st after qualifying 26th.

This season, Brent has one top-five and six top-10 finishes in 17 starts with a best finish of fourth at New Jersey Motorsports Park in September. A third place qualifying effort at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds in September is the team’s season best thus far.
