Robb Brent Notches Another Top-10 At Pocono

LONG POND, Pennsylvania (June 8, 2009) - - Shelby Township, Michigan native Robb Brent flexed his muscle and notched another top-10 finish Saturday afternoon in the ARCA Pocono 200 at Pocono Raceway. It was Brent’s fourth top-10 finish of the year and his best overall performance of the season.

Many were not surprised with Brent’s run in the No. 36 Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge Charger as the former road racing ace entered the event on the heels of several successful runs at the tricky triangle racetrack.

After recording a strong top-10 finish at Toledo Speedway in the most recent ARCA RE/MAX Series event, Brent and his Justin Allgaier Motorsports (JAM) team were carrying some much needed momentum as the ARCA season began to shift into high gear.

For the third straight race, teams would have to negotiate Mother Nature as heavy rain halted all activity at the track on Friday postponing practice and cancelling qualifying. With Brent set to start the race from the 17th position based on the team’s 2009 car owner points, the team changed their focus to practice where they were planning to dial in their machine.

In the short practice Saturday morning, Brent posted a very respectable 11th place. Brent reported to his crew and crew chief Bob Blount that he was happy with the car’s performance.

“I’m pretty satisfied,” said Brent. “We didn’t have a lot of time in practice but we definitely feel good about the race. I think we have a good car today.”

At the start of the 80-lap event, Brent wasted no time picking up spots and had moved into the top-12 when the caution flag at the end of lap number one for a two-car incident.

On the restart, Brent continued his charge and by the end of lap 10, Brent had maneuvered his automobile safely in the top-10 and continued to climb the leader board and had moved into the top-five when the first round of pit stops occurred near lap 40.

After a solid pit stop, Brent restarted the event in the seventh position but continued to eye returning inside the top-five. Flirting between fourth and eighth in a group of strong cars, Brent put on a show for the fans maneuvering his machine around his competitors and hovering in the top-five when the second round of pit stops occurred with thirty laps remaining.

Despite a hiccup on pit road, Brent remained in the hunt and despite a gallant effort over the race’s final laps to return to the top-five Brent would have to fight hard for a position in the top-10. An exciting last lap saw Brent pass several cars on the backstretch and would see the No. 36 battle Parker Kligerman in the No. 77 to the start finish line. Brent would finish seventh, his best ARCA finish of the season.

“We had a good race today,” offered the driver after the race. “I’m proud of everyone on the Justin Allgaier Motorsports team. We battled with the car in the second half of the race but we never gave up and were able to produce our best finish of the season. We’ll take this momentum stretch we’re on and look for a top-five if not a win at Michigan.”

Next up for the ARCA RE/MAX Series is a trip to Michigan International Speedway for the running of the Racing for Wildlife 200. The eighth race of the season is an important one for Robb Brent as the two-mile oval sits just a couple hours from Brent’s hometown of Shelby Township, Michigan. Brent will make his third start and has recorded a best finish of 11th last year.

Prior to joining Justin Allgaier Motorsports, Brent participated in the ARCA RE/MAX Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driving for NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski and Brad Keselowski Racing. In his 23 ARCA starts, Brent has acquired two top-five finishes and nine top-10 efforts. Brent notched his career best qualifying effort of second at Kentucky Speedway last year. He has led the ARCA RE/MAX Series pack twice for 21 laps in 2008. His best finish in the NCWTS occurred at Nashville Superspeedway in his inaugural truck debut where he finished 21st after qualifying 26th.
