SPARTA, Kentucky (May 6, 2009) - - Hoping to recover from bad luck in the past two ARCA RE/MAX Series races at Rockingham Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway, Robb Brent returns to Kentucky Speedway, a familiar place hoping to reverse the string of recent misfortune in Saturday night’s Drive Smart! Buckle-Up Kentucky 150.

Brent who is becoming more of a popular face on the ARCA RE/MAX Series tour is in his first season of full-time competition for Justin Allgaier Motorsports (JAM). Their partnership started off strong with a top-10 run at Salem Speedway, but since then two mechanical failures have rattled the team’s confidence but with Brent’s enthusiasm and determination the team is hoping for their second top-10 run Saturday night.

The Shelby, Township Michigan native has three starts at Kentucky Speedway and while Brent has only been able to secure a best finish of eighth in the most recent ARCA RE/MAX Series race at Kentucky Speedway, Brent has proven he has no problem negotiating the 1.5-mile speed plant. Brent recorded his career-best qualifying effort of second at Kentucky Speedway last May and backed it up with a strong third place starting effort last July.

For valid reasons, the 22-year old driver is looking forward to Saturday night’s thunder.

“I’m looking forward to getting back to tracks that fit my style,” said Brent, who will continue his studies at Northwood University pursing his Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Marketing / Business Management while negotiating a 21-race schedule in ARCA. “Kentucky Speedway is a fun place to race. There’s plenty of room to race, the speeds are fast and it can put on a great race for the fans.”

When asked why Kentucky Speedway fits his driving style, Brent replied by saying, “Believe it or not Kentucky Speedway is a driver’s racetrack. You have to be prepared for the changes. The track conditions can change on an instant. The races this year at Kentucky will be in plum darkness and you have to make sure your car is setup for that. We practice and qualify during the day, so you have to realize that your car may not be the same when you take the green flag. That’s where the driver abilities to get around the track come into play.”

After running a mixture of short tracks and superspeedways Brent participated in the open-test at Kentucky Speedway last week getting back into the rhythm of mile-and-a-half esprit.

Overall, the team placed 15th during the eight-hour test and while the team hoped for a faster performance, they are confident with their program and know they will be a factor under the Kentucky lights Saturday.

“We went through a lot,” added Brent. “We worked on the car all day long and we had Chad Blount here helping us as well. I was pretty happy with where we started to where we finished. We’re not done yet. This team wants to be in victory lane and so do I, so we’ll tweak the car a little bit and I think everyone will be happy with the outcome this weekend.”

After Talladega, Brent now sits 24th in the championship standings just 85 points from 15th and 215 credits from 10th. The 22-year old is bent on making up points from the last two races.

“We have a great team and because of two bad weeks we took a hit in the point standings. We don’t deserve to be sitting 24th in points, but I think it will give us a little more incentive to go out there and have a strong run and move up the ladder. I know we can do it.”

Washington Township, Michigan based Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep will continue it’s long-time association with Brent and serve as the primary sponsor on Brent’s No. 36 Dodge Charger this weekend. Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep has backed Brent since his entrance into racing at the age of 16.

Prior to joining Justin Allgaier Motorsports, Brent participated in the ARCA RE/MAX Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driving for NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski and Brad Keselowski Racing. In his 20 ARCA starts, Brent has acquired two top-five finishes and six top-10 efforts. Brent notched his career best qualifying effort of second at Kentucky Speedway last year. He has led the ARCA RE/MAX Series pack twice for 21 laps in 2008. His best finish in the NCWTS occurred at Nashville Superspeedway in his inaugural truck debut where he finished 21st after qualifying 26th.

The Drive Smart! Buckle-Up Kentucky 150 (100 laps / 150 miles) is the fifth of 22 events on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The 18th ever ARCA race at Kentucky Speedway is a one-day show. Practice begins Saturday, May 9 with a two hour practice session planned from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is set for later in the day slated to begin at 4:00 p.m. The event will take the green flag that evening shortly after 8:00 p.m. The event will not be televised but the race will be broadcasted live through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.
