BROOKLYN, Michigan (June 16, 2011) - - It appears participating in the open-test at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) last month paid off. Sean Corr and his Empire Racing team produced the 13th fastest time this afternoon in preparation for tomorrow’s RainEater Wiper Blades 200, the eighth race of the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season.

Corr in his No. 82 Roush Yates Performance / Roush Yates Engines Ford Fusion mastered a lap at 39.472 seconds or 182.408 miles per hour just missing the top-10 in the lone practice session for Corr’s second try at the two-mile oval.

Battling a loose condition for most of the practice, crew chief Howard Bixman made several adjustments to their blue oval with success giving the team high hopes for tomorrow’s qualifying run and race.

“We’re pretty good,” said Corr, who currently stands ninth in the championship standings. “I think coming here at testing last month definitely paid off. We still have some tweaking to do, but overall I’m happy with the way the car is performing.”

The goal for the family-owned team tomorrow? Finish in the top-10.

Thus far in 2011, the team has amassed seven consecutive top-20 finishes including a career-best 11th last Saturday afternoon in the fog-shortened Pocono ARCA 200 at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway.

“I’m ready and the team is definitely ready for a top-10,” expressed the Goshen, New York native. “We were so close last weekend but Mother Nature bit us in the end. Hopefully, tomorrow everything will pan out and we’ll leave here with our head held high heading into Winchester next weekend.”

Corr will make his 18th career start on Friday afternoon. In his previous 17 races, the avid dirt racer has maneuvered nine top-16 efforts and 14 top-20 finishes including seven consecutive in 2011. Pocono Raceway hoists the track with Corr’s career best finish of 11th in June 2011. An eighth place qualifying effort at the 2.5-mile triangle also in August 2010 is also a personal best accomplishment to date.

Recently, Empire Racing and BoomText officially announced the “Hard Corr Fans” program powered by BoomText, a mobile marketing campaign which allows fans to pledge towards becoming an official member of the Empire Racing team – not to mention helping three of Corr’s personal charities. To join the campaign, fans just simply have to text the word “CORR” to 411247 where they will receive an automated safe-secured link to join the “Hard Corr Fans” team.

The RainEater Wiper Blades 200 (100 laps / 200 miles) is the eighth of 19 events on the 2011 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 30th ARCA race at the Irish Hills track is a two-day show. Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying is slated to begin on race day, Friday, June 17th at 10:00 a.m. The field will take the green flag later in the day shortly after 5:00 p.m. The event will be televised live on SPEED. Live timing and scoring throughout the 1,320th race for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards since it was formed in 1953 will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com presented by ARCANation.com. All times are local.
