BROOKLYN, Michigan (June 15, 2011) - - On the heels of his career-best ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards finish of 11th last weekend at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway last Saturday afternoon, championship contender Sean Corr and his Empire Racing team trek to Michigan International Speedway (MIS) just outside the “Motor City” hoping to keep their solid season alive in Friday’s The RainEater Wiper Blades 200.

Corr along with his family-owned team led by ARCA guru crew chief Howard Bixman and team manager John Bellesfield return to the two-mile oval confident after a open-test session at MIS left the team thriving for a superb performance in the eighth race of the 2011 season.

The Goshen, New York native will make just his second start at the track nestled in the Irish Hills of the Great Lakes state. Last June, Corr battled adversity throughout the race to maneuver an 18th place finish, his fourth top-20 of 2010 in six starts.

With seven consecutive top-20 finishes in a row to lead off his first full season of ARCA competition, the 26-year old dirt racer turned stock car competitor is eager to improve on Pocono’s finish last week and award his close-net team with a top-10 run.

“We’re more than ready to finish in the top-10,” said Corr, who currently occupies ninth in the ARCA Racing Series championship standings. Our No. 82 Roush Yates Performance / Roush Yates Engines / Empire Racing Ford Fusion has been competitive all season long, we just haven’t been able to seal the deal for one reason or another to put our Empire Racing team into the top-10.”

Aiding Corr in his pre-race thoughts about Friday’s event is the success of the team’s recent test session last month. Even though teams only practiced for four hours before Mother Nature reared her ugly head with heavy rain, the freshman ARCA team was the fastest blue oval of the day.

“I was really pleased with the way the test went,” recalled Corr. “Howard (Bixman), John (Bellesfield) put their heads together and we made some vast improvements throughout the day. We took the car back to the shop and made some more changes, hoping we’ll come back even faster.”

He added, “Michigan is such a wide track that you really need a good handling car and some steam under the hood to be near the front. Roush Yates Engines have supplied our team with some of the best Ford stuff in the garage all season long. Not only do we want to have a good run for ourselves, but it would be nice to pull off something great for the folks at Ford in their backyard.”

Corr will make his 18th career start on Friday afternoon. In his previous 17 races, the avid dirt racer has maneuvered nine top-16 efforts and 14 top-20 finishes including seven consecutive in 2011. Pocono Raceway hoists the track with Corr’s career best finish of 11th in June 2011. An eighth place qualifying effort at the 2.5-mile triangle also in August 2010 is also a personal best accomplishment to date.

Recently, Empire Racing and BoomText officially announced the “Hard Corr Fans” program powered by BoomText, a mobile marketing campaign which allows fans to pledge towards becoming an official member of the Empire Racing team – not to mention helping three of Corr’s personal charities. To join the campaign, fans just simply have to text the word “CORR” to 411247 where they will receive an automated safe-secured link to join the “Hard Corr Fans” team.
