Talladega Recap: Patrick Sheltra was so close to victory he could taste it but the Indiantown, Florida native came up four positions short in last Friday’s ARCA RE/MAX 250 at Talladega Superspeedway. After qualifying 28th, Sheltra maneuvered through the “big one” and avoided several other close calls to take the lead on lap 91 of the 94-lap event before being overpowered in the draft with two laps remaining to cross the line fifth, awarding the Sheltra Motorsports team with their third top-five effort of the season.
Welcome Back To Toledo : Patrick Sheltra will make his fourth career start at Toledo Speedway Sunday afternoon. After qualifying 21st in the spring event last year, Sheltra would be collected in an early race incident and finish 28th. In the season finale at Toledo Speedway last October, Sheltra again qualified 21st before moving patiently through the field to score an eighth place effort. Earlier this year, Sheltra qualified an impressive 10th and charged to a career-best second giving Sheltra his first top-five finish of the season.
Glad To Have You Here: Earlier this week, Sheltra Motorsports announced that Environmental Protection Services and Engineering Concepts (EPSEC Corp.) will join the Whitesville, Kentucky team as the primary marketing for Sunday’s season finale. Sheltra Motorsports NASCAR Bound: With the final race of the 2008 season here, Sheltra Motorsports will shift its focus to the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) and compete in the final two events on the 2008 NNS calendar at Phoenix International Raceway and Homestead-Miami Speedway. Sheltra has one previous NASCAR start to his credit coming last October at Atlanta Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
Refreshing Local Support: Sheltra Motorsports welcomes RC Cola of Owensboro , Kentucky as an associate marketing partner for Sunday’s Hantz Group 200 by Belle Tire and Federated Car Care. RC Cola of Owensboro , Kentucky is expected to join the team for a junior season of competition in the ARCA RE/MAX Series in 2009.
Getting Ready For Much Deserved Down Time: Once his NASCAR Nationwide Series races are complete, Sheltra will join his family at their new ranch in Dryden, Texas where Sheltra will spent much of the off-season hunting with family and friends. Sheltra will escape from the town of the 11 twice in December by attending the ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship Awards Banquet while returning to the seat of the team’s No. 60 machine at the open Daytona International Speedway test on December 19th, 20th and 21st.
Impressive Stat: With 20 races complete in the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series season, Sheltra Motorsports has fielded a car for Patrick Sheltra that has run in the top-10 for all 20 events thus far this season. The team has amassed three top-fives with a runner-up at Toledo Speedway and the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds and most recently a fifth place effort at Talladega Superspeedway while holding five additional top-10 finishes. The team’s season best qualifying effort came at Kansas Speedway where Sheltra awarded himself with a career best run of eighth. Sheltra recorded his career best short track qualifying run of eighth at Berlin Raceway in July. The team has led three races at Kansas Speedway, Cayuga Motor Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway for a total of 17 laps.

Point Standings: After round 20 on the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule, Patrick Sheltra sits sixth in the championship standings accumulating 4,120 points. Sheltra is 580 markers from moving into the fifth position currently held by RE/MAX Series SunTrust Rookie-of-the-Year candidate Matt Carter. 765 credits separate Sheltra from the points lead held by SunTrust Rookie-of-the-Year candidate Scott Speed.

The Hantz Group 200 Belle Tire & Federated Auto Care (100 miles/200 laps) is the 21st of 21 events on the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The 64th trip to Toledo Speedway is a two-day show. Practice begins Saturday, October 11 with an hour and a half practice session planned from 12:30 p.m.-2:00 p.m. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. The field will take the green flag for the final time in 2008 on Sunday, October 12 shortly after 2:00 p.m. The race will air live on SPEED beginning at 2:00 p.m. Additional race coverage including live timing and scoring will be available online at arcaracing.com.
