Kentucky Recap: Sheltra Motorsports bolted to their third top-10 finish of the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series season last Saturday night at Kentucky Speedway. Armed with a Dodge Charger, Patrick Sheltra maneuvered a 10th place qualifying effort only to mount a charge into the top-five for much of the 112-lap event. A late race pit stop for fuel sent Sheltra to the rear of the field only to see the Indiantown, Florida native charge to a seventh place finish, a season best.
Third Time A Charm?: Patrick Sheltra will make his third career start at Toledo Speedway Sunday afternoon. After qualifying 21st in the spring event last year, Sheltra would be collected in an early race incident and finish 28th. In the season finale at Toledo Speedway last October, Sheltra again qualified 21st before moving patiently through the field to score an eighth place effort.
Happy Birthday Sheltra Family: On Wednesday, May 14, sophomore ARCA driver Patrick Sheltra celebrated his 22nd birthday. Ironically, it is also the same birthday as his father Rick Sheltra. Both Father and Son spent the day in Indiantown , Florida celebrating with family and close friends.
Patrick Sheltra Foundation Joins Toledo Fan Fest Festivities: Sheltra Motorsports and the Patrick Sheltra Foundation have announced their support of the May 17-18 ARCA Fan Fest and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Ohio. Chassis number 4145 will serve as the team’s back-up automobile. Sheltra ran that former ppc Racing entry at Springfield (Illinois State Fairgrounds), DuQuoin State Fairgrounds and Berlin Raceway last year.

Looking Ahead: In addition to a full ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule, Sheltra Motorsports and driver Patrick Sheltra will also compete in a limited dirt late model schedule (UMP and WoO) while also advancing Sheltra’s asphalt career by launching a NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (No. 35) career later this year.
Sheltra Motorsports, Toledo Speedway Pre-Race Quotes: Patrick Sheltra, driver of the No. 60 Ferguson Pipe Enterprises-FloraGanics Chevrolet:
On Kentucky : “While we are pleased with the performance, we are a little disappointed in our finish. The massive number of late race restarts really hurt us with the fuel mileage. All in all though, we are not going to complain. Our mile-and-a-half program is very strong and we’re hoping it will continue for the rest of the season.”
On Toledo : “I’m looking forward to Toledo this weekend. I have some unfinished business there. We had a good car and a solid finish there last fall. We’re bringing one of my favorite cars this weekend and I think we can put walk away from Toledo with our first win of the season.”
On The ARCA RE/MAX Series Fan Fest: “I am very excited about being apart of the fourth annual ARCA Fan Fest. It’s a good week of appearances and to have the chance to work with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Ohio is an honor. It should be an enjoyable weekend for all.”
On Turning 22: “I don’t feel any older, yet. It was nice to be home with family and friends. The birthday is over though and I’m ready to get down to business this weekend in Toledo .”
Sheltra Motorsports, Toledo Speedway Pre-Race Quotes: Grace Sheltra, owner of the No. 60 Ferguson Pipe Enterprises-FloraGanics Chevrolet:
On Toledo : “I like Toledo Speedway. It’s a neat short track and seems to fit Patrick’s driving style. It should be another good weekend for the Sheltra Motorsports team.”
On The Tight Point Standings: “Looking at the standings, it’s amazing to see how tight they are. I don’t think this early into the season that the points have been this tight. We are doing what we need to do to stay in the championship chase. A good run on Sunday will allow us to exit this six race stretch with some momentum.”
