“Team Pleased With Dodge Effort In Kansas Lottery $150 Grand”

KANSAS CITY, KANSAS (April 25, 2008) – Sophomore ARCA RE/MAX Series driver Patrick Sheltra had nearly a picture-perfect day at Kansas Speedway after running in the top-five for much of the Kansas Lottery $150 Grand.

A late race caution allowed Sheltra and his Whitesville, Kentucky based team to pit slapping on four new Hoosier tires and fuel while hoping to make a gallant charge back towards the top-10. It worked, well sort of.

On the restart, Sheltra blasted his No. 60 Aaron’s Outdoors Dodge Charger around on the high-side immediately throwing himself back into the top-10. Another caution inside 10 laps remaining forced another late-race restart.

Returning to green, Sheltra was on a mission; his mission however would be derailed after Sheltra could not get around the No. 90 of Gabi DiCarlo who was on older tires. Still fighting towards the front, Sheltra made the pass but the laps had run out forcing an eighth-place finish. Earlier today, Sheltra qualified a career best eighth.

Sheltra was also the highest finishing driver currently in the top-six in the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series point standings.

Friday’s Kansas Lottery $150 Grand also debuted a strong showing for the team’s Dodge program. Sheltra was driving a former Penske Racing car from the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. RC Consultants provided the power under the hood for today’s 100 lap/150 mile-event.

“I’m happy with the run today,” said Sheltra who also led his first ARCA RE/MAX Series laps today. “We had a good day, a real good day. We got trapped behind the No. 90 and it cost us a couple spots. I’m really proud of the team for all of their hard work and we also had another good point’s day. We can head to Rockingham next weekend and hope to keep this momentum going.”

Sheltra added, “I want to thank Aaron’s Outdoors for coming on-board for this race. I’m glad that both the Aaron’s machine posted top-10 finishes.”

Leaving Kansas, Sheltra has 29 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with a career best finish of third on the dirt at Illinois State Fairgrounds (August 2007) with an additional top-five finish (fourth) at Berlin Raceway (July 2007) while holding additional top-10s at Kansas Speedway (April 2008), Iowa Speedway (April 2008), Kentucky Speedway (June 2007), DuQuoin State Fairgrounds (September 2007) and Toledo Speedway (October 2007). An eighth place qualifying effort at Kansas Speedway (April 2008) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date.

An extensive post-race report will be forthcoming.
