Talented Indian teenager Tarun Reddy has today, Tuesday, 27th January, been confirmed as Double R Racing’s first driver signing for the brand new MSA Formula championship which gets underway on 4th/5th April at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit.

Woking-based Double R, which plans to field three drivers in the new-for-2015 FIA backed category, is delighted to have agreed a deal with Reddy who is widely touted as one of junior single-seater racing’s most promising young competitors.

Making his UK debut last year in Protyre Formula Renault, the 17-year-old from Chennai starred with a maiden podium finish during only the second weekend of the season at Donington Park. He went on to add two more podiums to his tally mid-year, including a best finish of second, at Snetterton.

“Tarun is an exceptionally gifted young driver and everyone at the team is thrilled to be working with him this year in MSA Formula”, said Double R principal Anthony ‘Boyo’ Hieatt, “We kept a close eye on his progress last year in Formula Renault where he did an incredible job during his first season in the UK, I’ve got absolutely no doubts Tarun will be a serious contender in MSA Formula this year.”

Beginning his competitive motorsport career in karting, Reddy was part of the Sahara Force India F1 Team Academy and graduated into car racing at the tender age of 15 in the Indian based MRF 1600 Series where he became a race winner.

Continuing in MRF the following year, and becoming the National MRF 1600 Champion, Reddy dovetailed those commitments with his first UK campaign in Formula Renault where he made a big impression during his maiden season overseas.

Now, the youngster will embark on his biggest and most high-profile challenge to date in MSA Formula which will run as part of Britain’s biggest motor racing package supporting the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship – 30 races across 10 events.

“I’m very pleased to sign with a prestigious team like Double R Racing which has had a tremendous amount of success in Formula 3”, commented Reddy, “The goal is to win from the get-go and with the experience and resources the team holds, I’m sure this is very possible.”

Former British F3 race winner Rupert Svendsen-Cook, who manages Reddy’s career through the Veloce Sports stable and is a former Double R driver himself, says the deal with the highly regarded team was a natural choice for his young protégé.

“I myself joined Double R at a similar age to Tarun in Formula BMW and with the team’s support I was able to develop hugely as a driver”, he said, “For me, it was a no brainer to place a great talent like Tarun with Double R who I know will leave no stone unturned in the bid to win races and championships in MSA Formula.”

Following the opening three races of the season at Brands Hatch on Easter weekend, MSA Formula will visit venues such as Donington Park, Oulton Park and Silverstone before reaching a conclusion back at Brands Hatch, albeit on the full length Grand Prix Circuit, on 10th/11th October.
