Mid-American Stock Car Series
April l3, 2015
After a strong season competing at Madison International Speedway in which he won six features and finished second in the points chase, Kody Hubred of Utica, Wisconsin, is taking his talents to the Mid American Stock Car Series presented by Quest Industrial for 2015.
It’s a big move for Hubred who says it all began with a discussion he had with a fellow driver. “It all started with Brad Keith talking to me in the red barn at Oktoberfest in 2013. He said he had been watching me race, and then a few month later he asked if I ever wanted to race a Mid Am car. I told him I’d love to try it, and he said he had a car that needed to be put together that I could drive. It kind of all took off from there,” said Hubred.
He is definitely looking forward to the challenge. “The Mid Am cars are appealing because they are such a challenge to drive. It seems to be “drivers’” division and I definitely want to be part of it. I’m really looking forward to getting to race with guys like Bill Prietzel, Jeremy Spoonmore, and Lyle Nowak…the “big dogs” of the series.
Hubred has set some goals for the 2015 season. “I’d like to earn Rookie of the Year, win some races and finish in the top three overall, and most importantly, learn from every race and have fun!”
It takes more than just the driver to complete a team and Hubred is happy for those making it possible for him to race. “Kurt Kleven, Brad Keith, and Ross Schuppel are my main crew guys with help from Mike Smothers. I also have to really thank Casey Johnson for making room in his shop for me to work on the car and sharing his racing knowledge with me.”
His sponsors include Keith’s Marine, DeAngelis Construction, Avon Hi Life, Bodies by Baboon, Cooter’s Combines, and Bridgette. Of course, he’s always looking for additional sponsors.
Hubred will get the 2015 season started with the Mid American Stock Car Series when the Spring Classic at the Rockford Speedway takes to the track on Sunday, April 12th. He’ll return to Wisconsin’s Fastest Half-Mile in Madison on Sunday, May 3rd.
