The Maine Automobile Association is the first in the field with a systematic canvass of automobile owners in that State to ascertain how many of them would volunteer their services in case of war. The blank sent out by E. W. Hoegg, Jr., Chairman of the Touring Bureau of the association, who has charge of the canvass, is as follows:
1. Would you as a member of the Maine Automobile Association be willing to volunteer for the use of our Government, in case of war, your services for any of the following purposes? (a) Ambulance Driver....... (b) Truck Driver....... (c) Driver of Staff Cars....... (d) Motor Cycle Rider for Dispatch Carrying....... (e) Repair Man and Mechanic.......
2. Would you volunteer the use of your cars, trucks, or motor cycles?
3. Would you turn over to the Federal Government at the prevailing market prices your cars, trucks, or motor cycles?
4. Kindly fill in the following blanks regarding vehicles as noted in Nos. 2 or 3.
