Tires can make the difference when it comes to driving safe and smooth. Everything rides on them being in prime condition. Yet when it comes to keeping them properly maintained, too few people actually take the time to ensure that their tires are road ready, and that includes your readers.
Only 19% of consumers properly inflate their tires. When properly inflated, tires can travel farther (around 4,700 miles) and save you money on gas (9 cents per gallon).
It’s more than just saving money, too: tire maintenance can save lives. There are nearly 11,000 tire-related crashes every year, and almost 200 people will die in those crashes. That’s why we need your help.
We’re encouraging everyone to be “Tire Wise.” That’s why we’re hosting a Twitter chat on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at 3 p.m. ET with the hash tag #TireWise. We’ll discuss safety tips and facts, such as how to test your tire’s treadwear and what to do in the event of a blowout. Tire safety experts will also be on hand to answer questions.
