ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Race No. 10, SCOTT 150, Chicagoland Speedway, Joliet, Illinois

Race Information: Event: SCOTT 150, Saturday, June 20 at 6:30 p.m. Local Time Track: Chicagoland Speedway Qualifying: Saturday, June 20 at 2:30 p.m. Local Time Track Length: 1.5-mile paved oval.

Rising Rookie: In her first full season of stock car competition, Canadian Sarah Cornett-Ching has quickly become a contender in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, making her a fan favorite for Saturday night’s SCOTT 150.

Last Time Out: Last Friday at Michigan International Speedway, the 24-year-old achieved her third top-10 finish in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. After starting 13th, Cornett-Ching hustled to a ninth place finish in the Corrigan Oil 200. It was the second top-10 finish for her in the last three races.

Windy City Debut: For the 10th time this season, Cornett-Ching will make her debut at a track she has never seen before. This weekend, the likable driver will tackle Chicagoland Speedway, a traditional cookie cutter 1.5-mile track. So far this season, Cornett-Ching has competed on speedways, superspeedways, road courses and short tracks. However, Saturday’s race will be the first 1.5-mile race on the tour in 2015.

Where Is She?: After nine ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards races, Sarah Cornett-Ching sits tied for sixth in the championship standings. Thus far, Cornett-Ching maintains an average starting position of 16th and average finish of 15th.

Not Just A Racer: Before turning her concentration to a full-time driver career, the Summerland, British Columbia native was a certified welder by trade in her home country of Canada. In fact, Cornett-Ching hones her skill at the teams Denver, North Carolina on occasion. She has also served as a welding tutor for members of her RACE 101 team.

Chassis Intel: Tony Blanchard has elected to bring RACE 101 chassis number 352 to the 1.5-mile track this weekend. This Chevrolet is appearing in its second race with RACE 101. This race chassis last competed in the ARCA Racing Series event last Friday at Michigan International Speedway. The team will utilize chassis number 325 as a backup car, the same automobile that Cornett-Ching raced with at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway earlier this month.

RACE 101 Motorsports, Chicagoland Speedway Pre-Race Quotes: Sarah Cornett-Ching, driver of the No. 2 RACE 101 Chevrolet:

On Michigan International Speedway Last Weekend: “We were ecstatic to leave Michigan with another top-10 finish. From practice to qualifying and the race, I became more comfortable with the track and the RACE 101 team made great calls to keep our new car in check with the changing track conditions. It’s our third top-10 finish of the year and I couldn’t have been more proud, this team never slows down.”

On Chicagoland Speedway Debut: “This is another huge step in my ARCA Racing Series presented by Menard career. I’ve never been to a mile and a half let alone Chicagoland Speedway, but that’s my story for all the race tracks this season so far. I’m looking forward to getting on the track Friday in our No. 2 RACE 101 Chevrolet and see what kind of performance we can deliver.”

On Goals For SCOTT 150 At Chicagoland Speedway: “In nine races we’ve been able to put together three top-10 finishes. Of course, we hope to make it four this weekend. The good news is we’re making strides each and every week, my driving and my ability to relay information to my crew chief have seen huge improvement so far. Sooner or later, we’ll want to turn those top-10 runs into top-fives. Chicagoland would be a great place to do it.”

On Approaching Halfway Mark On ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Tour: “It’s hard to believe that we’re almost at the halfway point to the season. I’m really thankful to be a part of the tour, work with Tony (Blanchard, driver coach, mentor and owner) and the rest of the RACE 101 team. Soon, we’ll be going back to some of the race tracks we’ve competed at before and I’m looking forward to seeing us succeed ten-fold in the second half of the season. We want to rewrite the record books come Kansas Speedway in October.”

RACE 101 Motorsports, Chicagoland Speedway Pre-Race Quotes: Tony Blanchard, driver coach, mentor and owner of the No. 2 RACE 101 Chevrolet:

On Sarah Cornett Ching: “I’m very impressed with the job that Sarah has done this year. She’s had to overcome some adversity at times, but that has made her a stronger driver. She’s proven that she has what it takes to run top-10 competitively in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, now she’s ready to keep pedaling forward with top-five runs.”

On Outlook For Chicagoland Speedway: “Of course it’s another new track for Sarah, but I think she’ll adapt quickly and be fast this weekend. It’s a quick race, so we need to make sure we’re doing everything to give her the best handling car possible. Another top-10 would be great, but a top-five would really be something to strive for.”
