The Audi TT has been around since 1998 and in that time has sold half a million units. To celebrate this milestone Audi has launched a limited edition TTS.
The TTS Limited Edition will be restricted to 500 units, of which 120 will come to the UK. It comes in coupe and convertible forms and will cost £38,860 for the coupe and £42,320 for the roadster.
Upgrades over the standard TTS include special paint schemes (Nimbus grey for the coupe and Imola yellow for the roadster), a rear spoiler, 19 inch wheels, Impulse grey leather upholstery and a ton of entertainment and driver aids which would normally be options.
The TTS Limited Edition is powered by the 2.0 TFSI engine with 272bhp and 258 lb ft of torque. 0-60 is done in 5.3 seconds and buyers can choose from 6-speed manual or S Tronic auto gearboxes.
This is all well and good. The TTS Limited Edition looks great and no doubt will be great. But we can't help thinking a more suitable edition would have been the TT Ultra quattro which weighs 300kg less than the standard TT by dint of a raft of weight saving measures. Check out the TT Ultra quattro here.
The pricing also puts the TTS Limited Edition slap bang in Boxster and Cayman territory, which is a tough market.
