At the Geneva Motor Show in 2012 Land Rover displayed this concept, the Evoque convertible. It looks as though it's been given the green light.
A Range Rover source has
told What Car?,
'The Evoque Convertible now has the green light, it's going to be built.'
The Evoque convertible will require 75kg of strengthening - which isn't too bad considering the 3 door, on which the convertible will be based, only weighs 1600kg, the same as a Jaguar F-type.
The roof will be fabric and will share engines and layouts with the 3 door Evoque coupé, which means diesels and petrol with 2 or 4 wheel drive. It will go into production in 2014.
Land Rover recently announced that 220,000 Evoques have been built at the Halewood plant in its first 2 years of production.
