ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Race No. 13, Sioux Chief PowerPEX® 200, Lucas Oil Raceway, Clermont, Indiana
Race Information: Event: Sioux Chief PowerPEX® 200, Friday, July 14 at 9:00 p.m. Local Time Track: Lucas Oil Raceway Qualifying: Friday, July 17 at 5:30 p.m. Local Time Track Length: 0.686-mile paved oval.
Rising Rookie: In her first full season of stock car competition, Canadian Sarah Cornett-Ching has quickly become a series contender in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, making her a fan favorite for Friday night’s Sioux Chief PowerPEX® 200 at Lucas Oil Raceway. She is the only full-time female driver on the tour.
Last Time Out: Cornett-Ching made her Iowa Speedway last Friday night in #ThisIsMySpeedway150. Despite horrendously hot conditions, Cornett-Ching practiced well in her No. 2 RACE 101 Chevrolet. The team capitalized on a strong practice session with a 10th place starting position.
During the race, Cornett-Ching found herself hovering near the top-10, but handling woes later in the event would hinder her from collecting her sixth top-10 finish of the season. She finished 14th, marking her fifth top-15 finish in the last six races.
Announcement Coming Soon: RACE 101, the team that fields entries for Sarah Cornett-Ching on the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards tour will make an announcement in the coming weeks about another NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKPSE) event added to her already busy season. Cornett-Ching has two K&N starts to her credit this year at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway and Columbus Motor Speedway respectively.
Chasing Records: While Cornett-Ching and her Tony Blanchard led team are chasing a record to become the highest finishing female in championship points, she’s also chasing a Rookie of the Year title, she currently stands second overall. In the championship effort, Cornett-Ching sits sixth overall, which ties Shawna Robinson as the highest finishing position to date for a full-time female competitor.
Another New Track: For the 13th different time this season, Cornett-Ching will compete at a new track as she soldiers through her freshman season of ARCA Racing Series competition. Lucas Oil Raceway marks the seventh new short track for the RACE 101 driver in 2015.
Where Is She?: After 12 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards races, Sarah Cornett-Ching sits sixth in the championship standings with a 80-point cushion over seventh place. Thus far, Cornett-Ching maintains an average starting position of 14.4 and an average finish of 14th entering the 13th race of the season. Cornett-Ching is second in the SCOTT Rookie of the Year race with the lead still in grasp with eight races to go.
Not Just A Racer: Before turning her concentration to a full-time driving career, the Summerland, British Columbia native was a certified welder by trade in her home country of Canada. In fact, Cornett-Ching hones her skill at the teams Denver, North Carolina on occasion. She has also served as a welding tutor for members of her RACE 101 team.

Chassis Intel: Tony Blanchard has elected to bring RACE 101 chassis number 190 to the 0.686-mile track this weekend. This Chevrolet is appearing in its sixth race with RACE 101. This race chassis last competed in the ARCA Racing Series event at Winchester Speedway in June. This particular race car has four top-15 finishes in five races. The team will utilize chassis number 352 as a backup car, the same automobile that Cornett-Ching raced with at Michigan International Speedway and Chicagoland Speedway last month.
RACE 101 Motorsports, Lucas Oil Raceway, Pre-Race Quotes: Sarah Cornett-Ching, driver of the No. 2 RACE 101 Chevrolet:
On Iowa Speedway: “I’m proud of the RACE 101 team for their efforts under extremely hot conditions at Iowa Speedway. Our car was good in practice. We made changes and they helped for qualifying. Unfortunately, we struggled a little bit in the race, but we learned a lot. We’re not always going to have the best day at the race track, but it’s important to try take something positive away from a not so good race. We learned a lot, so we’ll pick up the pieces and hope to improve on our 14th place finish on Friday night.”
On Lucas Oil Raceway Debut: “I’ve been told that this is a big fan favorite because of the close racing at the track. The ARCA races from Lucas Oil Raceway in the past seemed exciting, but also setup for a lot of strategy. At times, it looked like the track was hard to pass on and you needed to save your tires. I believe Tony (Blanchard, driver coach, mentor and owner) has a good plan for Friday, so I’m eager to get to the track and get everything underway.”
On Goals For Sioux Chief PowerPEX® 200 At Lucas Oil Raceway: “After finishing 14th last Friday night at Iowa, we need to get back inside the top-10. We’ve been pretty solid on short tracks this season. The series is in a heavy stretch of racing right now, so it’s important for us to make the most of every race. This RACE 101 team wants to finish in the top-five believe me. I know we’ll get there. It’s our number one goal right now.”
On Chasing An ARCA Record: “It’s really clear that it’s going to come down to the season finale at Kansas Speedway in October to know if we’re going to make our own record in 2015. Right now, we have a lot on the table. We’re focused on running strong for all those who have stood behind us and continue to support us as well. If we do our job, the points should take care of themselves and we’ll make some history.”
RACE 101 Motorsports, Iowa Speedway Pre-Race Quotes: Tony Blanchard, driver coach, mentor and owner of the No. 2 RACE 101 Chevrolet:
On Sarah Cornett Ching’s Iowa Speedway Debut: “There’s going to be trials and tribulations in any driver’s season. At Iowa, Sarah battled adversity, but she prevailed with a solid finish under difficult conditions. We’re proud of her for the never give up attitude and her devotion to give nothing less than 110 percent behind the wheel of our RACE 101 Chevrolet.”
On Outlook For Lucas Oil Raceway: “Honestly, before we get there, this race reminds me of our race earlier this year at Nashville. It’s a race where I feel like Sarah really put herself on the map with her competitors. It’s another new track for her, but I think she’ll adjust quickly like she always does and we’ll have a good night at the race track.”
