Everything about this 80s Renault 21 Turbo advert is so wrong, yet so right

Back in the 80s it was considered perfectly acceptable for a TV advert for a car to show police helicopters chasing a car, only to let the driver off when the Gendarmes discovered they had been chasing a Renault 21 Turbo.

OK it wasn't the best car in the world but the advert shows us everything we've lost with modern advertising standards not letting manufacturers show us any kind of fun in a car. A case in point is the recent Toyota GT86 cinema ad, which was banned for showing "dangerous and irresponsible driving"

The tag line "Le Defi" means "The Challenge". Highly irresponsible. Good.
