Pikes Peak - the famous hill climb in Colarado, America is a little more dramatic than the traditional British hill climbs at Shelsley Walsh, Goodwood or Prescott.
Essentially the Pikes Peak course is a 12.42 mile climb over 1440 metres with an average gradient of 7% and features 156 corners - some of which are terrifyingly close to the cliffs beside them.
For 96 years cars, bikes and trucks have been racing up the steep, twisty track. The current record is 9 minutes 56 seconds - set by Rhys Millen in a specially prepared Hyundai Genesis Coupe.
Until 2011 the track was surfaced with both gravel and tarmac but is now 100% tarmac. Most vehicles that enter the hill climb are especially built and prepared for the Pikes Peak but it is also used as a proving ground by manufacturers - much like the Nurburgring in Germany.
Audi and Ducati have put together this short film showing off their RS5 and Multistrada. It's slick and smooth round the edges but gives you a good idea of the track itself and the performance of the Audi and Ducati.
One detail for petrol heads to spot is the retro 'Quattro' font on the Audi's doors.
