Jaguar's XK gets a new flagship - the road-legal but track ready XKR-S GT which takes the already blinding XKR-S and cranks the power and performance up a notch.

Whilst Jaguar might sell a ton of diesels in their XF and XJ ranges the new models - XFR-S, XJR, F Type and now the XKR-S GT - are pure performance machines. Whilst Audi and Mercedes downgrade their flagship engines and stultify them with turbochargers, Jag's supercharged 5 litre V8 is once again used, and why not, it's a brilliant engine.

The XKR-S GT is limited to 30 cars, gets a host of aerodynamic aids which provide 145kg of downforce, carbon ceramic brakes as standard, adaptive dampers, revised suspension geometry, the steering rack from the F Type, a six speed automatic transmission with paddle shifts and Pirelli Corsa tyres fitted to 20 inch forged alloy wheels.

The engine produces 550PS and 680 N of torque, which is enough for a 0-60mph time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 186mph. Once the weather has improved Jaguar reckon on a sub 7 minute 30 time around the Nurburgring for the XKR-S GT.

Unfortunately the XKR-S GT is destined for the American market, where it will cost approximately £130,000.
