A Bentley not built in Britain is not a Bentley

Bentley are in a bullish mood, having just announced £100million profits and 22% global growth. But maybe they've taken a step too far. They might build their new SUV in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Bentley boss Wolfgang Schreiber told the press today that the new SUV would enter production in 2015 or 2016, if internal sign-off is granted in the next month or two.
Then he dropped the bombshell. It might be built in Crewe, or Bratislava - alongside the Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q5 and VW Touareg. At least when Rolls Royce were booted out of Crewe they had the good grace to stay in the UK.
Bentley is not a global company. It is not a homogenised VW brand to be built wherever labour is cheapest. Bentley is a British company that, from time to time, ends up in overseas ownership. If it were built in Slovakia the new SUV would not be a Bentley. It would be like a fake Rolex.
In other news Buckingham Palace is being relocated and rebuilt brick by brick in Boston, Massachusetts, Victoria and David Beckham are moving into a terraced house in Liverpool and the British Government are relocating Parliament to Paris, because the rent's cheaper.
