Maserati have released details of their new car, the Maserati Grancabrio MC. According to Maserati the Grancabrio MC takes their standard Grancabrio and adds a dollop of high performance and sports characteristics derived from their racing experience.

The MC is 48mm longer than the Grancabrio with a revised front end optimised for aerodynamics and a spoiler on the boot.

The standard car is a fast four seater cabriolet with a 434bhp 4.7 litre V8 that does 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds. The Sport is slightly juicier with a 450bhp engine and 0-62 in 5 seconds. Both use a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The Sport costs £103,875 and, whilst the Grancabrio's pricing and full specs haven't been released, expect it to cost a little more than this. The Granturismo MC is slightly faster than the Granturismo so expect a small boost in performance from the Grancabrio to the Grancabrio MC.

On the looks front Maserati seem to have got it spot on. Whilst the front end is classic Maserati the shape and proportions of the car are classic grand tourer. The Grancabrio is a true four seater in that people with legs can actually sit in the rear seats, unlike in the Jaguar XKR. The rear spoiler is nicely integrated into the shape of the boot too.
