CONCORD, North Carolina (October 8, 2015) - - Working hard to prepare their No. 6 Musselman’s BIG CUP Chevrolet for next weekend’s ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season finale at Kansas Speedway, Josh Williams and members of his JWM team will take a break later this week for a very important reason.

Williams, currently second in the ARCA championship standings behind Grant Enfinger has been asked to participate in the Pennsylvania State University Homecoming parade, as a special guest of the University.

The Port Charlotte, Florida native’s first appearance in the largest collegiate parade in the nation is a thank you from the school for Williams and his team's recent work at Hershey Children’s Hospital in August.

Williams will appear in the parade on Friday night, October 9 starting from Pennypacker Hall at 6:00 p.m.

“This is an extremely humbling opportunity for myself and our race team,” said Williams. “We went to Hershey Children’s Hospital in August after the Pocono race and we enjoyed being there with the kids and help put a smile on their face.

“There aren’t words that can describe what they’re going through, but the opportunity for us to be able to visit them and hang out with them is from the fundamentals of which we’ve built our race team.”

But August wasn’t the last time that he and his family-owned team took time out for others.

Earlier this week, Williams continued his promise to visit hospitals around the country and spend time with those in need as part of his “Pay It Forward” initiative when he visited the Jeff Gordon Children’s hospital in nearby Concord, North Carolina.

“I made a promise to Anya Cale, a young girl I met battling cancer that I would visit as many kids as I could and spread the message of warmth and love,” added Williams. “You’re undeniably at a loss for words when you see the smiles on their face. It makes me 10 times proud of being able to do what I get to do. I had that same vibe at Hershey Children’s Hospital a couple months ago.”

It’s been a while since Williams has participated in Homecoming festivities, but is eager to embrace the opportunity with his team.

“JWM isn’t just about me, it’s about our guys,” offered Williams. “They make the wheel turn just as much as I do. Of course, mom and dad are huge supporters and mostly foot the bill in order for this to happen.

“With all of us though, we realize how lucky we are to be able to race when we can and through racing want to give back to others off the track. Our hospital visits have been essential for helping that mission. I can’t thank Deanna Javage and the Pennsylvania State University for the invitation.”

While JWM is honored to represent the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) in Friday night’s procession, the team will waive through the route with thoughts of capturing their first victory in the October 16 running of the Full Throttle S’loonshine 98.9.

“We had some tough luck at Kentucky which really took us from any hope of stealing the championship away, but we’ve been busting our tails on the car getting ready for Kansas,” said Williams who finished second at Kansas last October.

“We want to win so bad. And last year we almost did it. Just have to go back next week and finish one spot better.”

The Full Throttle S’loonshine 98.9 (99 Laps / 149 Miles) is the 20th of 20 races on the 2015 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. Practice begins for the one-day show on Friday, October 16 from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Menards pole qualifying presented by Ansell is set for later in the day at 2:30 p.m. The event will take the green flag later that night around 7:30 p.m. The season finale will be televised live on FOX Sports 1 with including live timing and scoring available online at ARCARacing.com. All times are local (Central).
