February 12, 2016: BMW, Daimler Vans (including Sprinter Vans labeled Mercedes-Benz, Dodge and Freightliner), Ford, Honda (including Acura), Mazda, Mercedes-Benz (including Chrysler), and Volkswagen (including Audi) have expanded their Takata recalls to include vehicles equipped with driver-side air bag inflators that Takata has declared defective. NHTSA alerted consumers that these expansions were imminent on Jan. 22.
An updated list of all makes, models and model years affected by Takata recalls is available here. Ford and BMW has made Vehicle Identification Numbers searchable through NHTSA’s VIN lookup tool so owners can enter their VIN and see if their vehicle is under recall. Honda, Volkswagen, and Mercedes-Benz will make affected VINs searchable in the coming days, and NHTSA will update its Takata recall microsite as those VINs become available.
