“Mr. Showtime Ready For Seventh Start At Pocono Raceway”

LONG POND, Pennsylvania (July 31, 2009) - - For the second consecutive race at Pocono (Pa) Raceway and for the fifth time in 2009 Mother Nature washed out Menards Pole by Ansell qualifying for the ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS). Based on the team’s 2009 car owner points, Patrick Sheltra in the No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Dodge Charger will line up 10th for the running of Saturday’s Pennsylvania ARCA 200.

Before Mother Nature drenched the 2.5-mile triangle, the cars and stars of the ARCA RE/MAX Series were able to tackle the track for practice on Friday morning with Sheltra ending the session 14th quickest overall.

Sheltra’s lap time Friday morning of 55.825 seconds was a tick slower than Sheltra’s fastest practice lap at Long Pond speedplant in June. Still, the 23-year old phenom is confident about tomorrow’s event.

“I feel real good about the race,” said Sheltra, who finished third in his most recent start at Pocono Raceway. “Ted (Musgrave, driver coach) was really pointing out some things to me and John (Hayden, crew chief) kept making the car better and better as the practice session progressed. The cancellation of qualifying really didn’t hurt us because I think our car is better in race conditions. I have every intentions of backing up and bettering our third place finish from June.”

The fan base has some extra flavor for Sheltra this weekend. Scott Herman of this past season’s MTV’s Real World: Brooklyn is back in attendance to root on the No. 60 Buffalo Wings & Rings Racing team. Additionally, Sheltra Motorsports is hosting special Sheltra Motorsports guest Christopher Nollinger who is making his first trip to a stock car event at Pocono. Nollinger, 28 is a native of West Palm Beach, Florida, which is near Sheltra’s hometown of Indiantown.

Entering Pocono, Sheltra has 58 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with one career victory at Salem Speedway (April 2009). During his ARCA tenure, Sheltra has accumulated nine top-fives and posted 19 top-10 finishes. A third place qualifying effort at Rockingham Speedway (April 2009) is Sheltra’s best time trials efforts to date. He has controlled the ARCA field five times for 109 laps.

The Pennsylvania ARCA 200 (80 laps / 200 miles) is the 13th of 21 events on the 2009 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The 49th ARCA race at Pocono Raceway is a two-day show. The event will take the green flag on Saturday, August 1 shortly after 1:00 p.m. The event will be televised live on SPEED. Additional race coverage will be broadcasted through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.
