Van rental is one of those businesses that are very lucrative today. Since vans are ideal for family or a sizable number of people, they have turned out to have incredible demand for vacations and road trips made by families and friends that choose to travel in groups. For that reason, the van rental business is shooting up in most countries that favor tourism and other attractive social and business allures. As a matter of fact the competition in this business is tense availing the van renting customers a wide sample space for choice and enticingly well-polished services. However it is very important that one notes the ups and downs of van renting.
Van renting has many shortcomings that are at times overlooked. Quite often these oversights are very costly for the customer or to the van rental service its self. Today we will set our focus on the consumer.
To kick off, the van rental customer is always faced with the challenge of limited mileage. All van rental companies set a mileage limit on them. In Europe each mile is charged from 10 to 20 cents. It gets so expensive if a customer is set to cover a very long distance. In some instances it gets more expensive than buying a new van.
Secondly van renting companies at times charge more insurance costs than anticipated. It is very important that the customer reads enough information about the van rental service of their choice before they get to sign any contract. Some customers are aware of this but it then makes them very tense while using the vans which in turn kill the fun and the renting experience.
To rent a van, the customer must have a high credit. This is the only assurance that the van rental company will be paid for the period that their van has been rented. Customers with low credit usually have trouble getting companies that will rent their vans to them.
The other problem of renting a van is referred to as "early termination". This happens when a car gets an accident or when it is stolen. In some cases van rental companies charge customers heavily for such occurrences leaving them in a dilemma. In other cases there is a stingy red tape process of getting another van from the same company.
However, there are a number of advantages attached to van rental. Nevertheless van rental has quite a number of advantages. First of all it frees the customer from buying a car or shipping one to every place that they are traveling to. It is very convenient for a customer to know that they can get a van of their choice everywhere they go. The related advantage to that is the customer does not have to worry about disposing off the van after usage. To add to that, difficulty of disposing off the van after use is eliminated. All they have to do is return the van to the Rental Company and they are done.
Lastly it is very important for the customer to read through the contract carefully in order to avert all the complications that are at times hidden in the contract papers of the van rental companies.
