Ski Champion Maier Injured in Motorcycle Accident

Two-time Olympic ski champion Hermann Maier of Austria has broken his right leg in a motorcycle accident, jeopardizing his chances for the Olympics next February, and possibly his career.

The Austrian Press Agency reports Saturday the reigning World Cup champion underwent an operation of several hours after suffering a number of injuries, and still runs the risk of kidney failure.

The accident occurred Friday in Radstadt in central Austria.
