Bryan Silas Road Course Ready

MILVILLE, New Jersey (September 25, 2008) - - Second year ARCA driver Bryan Silas is hot right now. The 21-year old rising star is on a string of three consecutive top-10 finishes including a career sixth place at Chicagoland Speedway earlier this month. But now for the first time in his ARCA career, Silas will turn left and right as the series returns to a road course at the newly built New Jersey Motorsports Park for Sunday’s Loud Energy Drink 150.

And while many teams are extremely optimistic about returning to a road course, Silas is feeling a little more relaxed after competing in a Koni Challenge Series event at the New Jersey Motorsports Park a couple weeks ago where Silas stormed to an impressive top-15 finish in a car fielded by fellow ARCA team TRG Motorsports.

“It should be a fun weekend,” said the Stuart, Florida native. “Road course racing definitely provides its challenges but I think as a driver it can make us better. Rights and lefts are something that I’m not used to but I’m hoping that the experience I gained in the Koni race allows us to soar to our fourth top-10 finish Sunday afternoon.”

With the buzz continuing on Silas’s recent streak of finishes, he credits the hard work of his Fast Track Racing team for the season-turnaround. “We’ve worked hard to make our program stronger. We’ve had some luck along the way too which has been a big help and it’s really put this team in the spotlight where we feel we belong. We’ll try to make it four-in-a-row this weekend.”

When asked how to describe the road course event this weekend, Silas sounded, “It's obviously very different from what we're used to and that's what makes it so exciting.” Staying focused and remaining confident will be the key to success on Sunday. We tested at NJMP on Tuesday and I feel that what we learned in the stock car can be applied to practice on both Friday and Saturday. Our times will get faster with the more laps run, so remaining optimistic could equal great success.”

With just three races remaining in the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule, Silas sits 12th in the standings just 15 markers from 11th and 100 credits from entering the top-10. “Getting in the top-10 isn’t out of the picture and most definitely we want to be there when the final checkered flag falls for the season. Another top-10 run this weekend will help us solider on to that goal.”

Nortrax, Shell Rotella T, Holland Pump, Oasis, Palm Beach Grading (PBG) and Rockingham Speedway will all sponsor the No. 11 Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the 19th event on the 2008 ARCA calendar.

Entering New Jersey, Silas has 47 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with a career best finish of sixth at Chicagoland Speedway (September 2008) with additional top-10 performances of eighth at Kentucky Speedway (May 2008), Iowa Speedway (April 2008), Salem Speedway (April 2007 and April 2008) and Kentucky Speedway (July 2007), a ninth at Salem Speedway (September 2008) and a 10th at USA International Speedway (March 2007) and DuQuoin State Fairgrounds (September 2008). He holds a career best short track time trials effort of seventh at Berlin Raceway (July 2007). A fourth place qualifying effort at Pocono Raceway (June 2007) is Silas's best speedway run to date. He has controlled the ARCA field for 26 laps in three races.

The Loud Energy Drink 150 (150 miles/67 laps) is the 19th of 21 events on the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The first ARCA race ever at New Jersey Motorsports Park is a three-day show. Practice begins Friday September 26 with a half practice session planned from 1:10 p.m. - 1:40 p.m. A second round of practice begins at 3:00 p.m. and will conclude at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, a short half hour practice goes live at 10:05 a.m. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying in groups is slated to begin at 2:15 p.m. The field will take the green flag on Sunday, September 28th shortly after 1:00 p.m. The event will be televised on MavTV and several television networks with additional race coverage including live timing and scoring and radio courtesy of the ARCA Radio Network will be available online at arcaracing.com.
