“Fast Track Racing Driver Looking To Step It Up In Second Half”

SPARTA, Kentucky (July 15, 2008) - - The second half of the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS) season kicks off this Friday night at Kentucky Speedway and for Stuart, Florida’s Bryan Silas, that’s great news as the sophomore ARCA driver returns to the 1.5-mile speedway looking for his third straight top-10 finish under the lights in the Kentucky ARCA RE/MAX 150.

Last July, Silas started a strong fifth and remained a contender throughout the event to record a career-best eighth place finish. Earlier this year in May, Silas rebounded from a deep starting position (23rd) to charge to the front and net an eighth place finish, tying his career best speedway finish in RE/MAX Series competition.

Ironically, Silas has captured the same position (eighth) three times during the first half of the season beginning at Salem Speedway followed by Iowa Speedway and most recently at the Sparta, Kentucky facility of Kentucky Speedway. While the Fast Track Racing development driver is pleased with the solid efforts, he knows that his veteran team is capable of more. He hopes to signify the statement with a top-five finish in Friday night’s showdown.

“I always look forward to Kentucky,” said Silas who enters his fourth trip to Kentucky and stands 12th in championship points. “Overall, the track has been pretty healthy to me and our team. We had a very good qualifying effort last July. A year later, we just hope to back up the performance with a little better finish Friday night.”

Silas will be the first to tell anyone that his second year of competition in the ARCA RE/MAX Series has been a beneficial one.

“We’ve had some highs and lows this season but we’re entering the second half looking for more, a lot more. We have a great team and I believe the chemistry is there with my crew chief Jeff McClure, we just need a little luck along the way to push us ahead in the standings.”

Finishing a very respectable 14th in the most recent ARCA event at Cayuga Motor Speedway in Canada last month, Silas feels that his organization has retained an early jump on the second-half and looks to build on the recent consistency his Fast Track Racing has obtained.

“As a team, we are much more consistent than last year and that has kept us near the top-10 in points. Two-straight top-10 finishes at a demanding track like Kentucky Speedway is showing some consistency and we’ve made some changes to our Ford Fusion since the race in May. Hopefully that will play into our favor Friday night.”

155 markers from entering the top-10 in the ARCA RE/MAX Series championship standings, Silas knows that a potential fourth top-10 finish of the season can be critical in climbing the point’s ladder.

“Point’s are no joke this year,” sounded Silas. “I’m proud of my team for all of their hard work this year but we’ve all agreed we need to race smart, pick and choose our battles and be in the hunt near the end of the race. If we can keep our goals in check, entering the top-10 should be no problem.”

Nortrax, Shell Rotella T, Holland Pump, ICI Homes, Palm Beach Grading (PBG) and Rockingham Speedway will all sponsor the No. 11 Ford Fusion in the 11th event on the 2008 ARCA calendar.

“Kentucky Speedway is televised and that’s good news for our team. For the first time since I’ve been in ARCA, qualifying will be live on television and that’s even better. A top-five qualifying effort is what we need to keep our No. 11 up front and in contention. If we can get the car handling well in practice, there’s no doubt in my mind that our sponsors can attract some great recognition.”

Entering Kentucky, Silas has 40 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with a career best finish of eighth at Kentucky Speedway (May 2008), Iowa Speedway (April 2008), Salem Speedway (April 2007 and April 2008) and Kentucky Speedway (July 2007) while holding an additional top-10 performance at USA International Speedway (March 2007). He holds a career best short track time trials effort of seventh at Berlin Raceway (July 2007). A fourth place qualifying effort at Pocono Raceway (June 2007) is Silas's best speedway run to date. He has controlled the ARCA field for 26 laps in three races.

The Kentucky ARCA RE/MAX 150 (150 miles/100 laps) is the 11th of 21 events on the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The 17th ARCA race at Kentucky Speedway is a one-day show. Practice begins Friday July 18 with a two hour and fifteen minute practice session planned from 11:30 a.m.-1:45 p.m. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. with live television coverage on SPEED. The field will take the green flag later that evening shortly after 8:00 p.m. The race will be televised live on SPEED with additional race coverage including live timing and scoring available online at arcaracing.com.
