Bryan Silas Hopes Windy City Offers Return To Top-10

JOLIET, Illinois (September 6, 2007) - - If you took a poll around the ARCA RE/MAX Series garage and asked which driver deserves a break in the series, odds are Bryan Silas would be atop the list.

Continuing to turn heads with his solid performances the last month, Silas has been unable to reel in the finishes he deserves for one reason or another.

However, as the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series season begins to wind down, Silas would like to close out the season with a bang beginning with Saturday’s Chicagoland ARCA 200.

The last time the Stuart, Florida native visited a mile-and-a-half track, he rewarded his Fast Track Racing team with a solid eighth place finish. Now, Silas looks for more than just a top-10 finish, he is searching for a career best finish.

“It’s back to normal,” said Silas, exiting the dirt track events and returning to the normal asphalt tracks. “I’ve been looking forward to Chicagoland since Kentucky and we really need a track like Chicagoland to turn our luck around.”

He continued, “I lost count how many times we were in position to score a top-10 finish and something happened. It’s not just me that I want to score a top-10 for, it’s the team. The guys on the Fast Track Racing team deserve it. They’ve done a great job this year and I really appreciate it.”

Silas also heads to the Joliet , Illinois speed plant looking for revenge. In one of his limited starts in 2006, Silas made an attempt at Chicagoland Speedway.

In last September’s SK Hand Tool 200, Silas qualified 25th and appeared to be heading towards a solid run before an accident took him from contention. This year, Silas knows that his equipment is better, he’s gained plenty of experience and Chicagoland Speedway owes him one.

“I really like Chicagoland, we just didn’t meet eye-to-eye last year. We had a good car going, we just couldn’t get to the finish. This year, I’m feeling very strong about our chances and I know with some luck we’ll be able to produce our fourth top-10 finish of the season.”

Still controlling the ninth position in the ARCA RE/MAX Series championship standings, Silas feels he still has a shot at moving forward.

“I know with a couple good runs we can move ahead in the standings, but it’s going to take some work. These last races are going to be very competitive. We know that, but we’re coming with a head of steam and we’re prepared.

Nortrax, Shell Rotella T, Holland Pump and Palm Beach Grading (PBG) will all sponsor the No. 11 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS in the seventh ARCA event held at the Chicagoland Speedway.

“We have an on-board camera this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. But we don’t want to earn exposure from having the camera, we want to earn the exposure by running up front and being in contention. This is our last intermediate track and I want to leave the windy city knowing that we gave everything we had!”

Heading into Chicagoland, Silas has 25 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with a career best finish of eighth at Salem Speedway (April 2007) and Kentucky Speedway (July 2007) while holding an additional top-10 performance at USA International Speedway (March 2007). He holds a career best short track time trials effort of seventh at Berlin Raceway (July 2007). A fourth place qualifying effort at Pocono Raceway (June 2007) is Silas's best speedway run to date. He has controlled the ARCA field for 15 laps in one race.

The Chicagoland ARCA 200 (134 laps/200 miles) is the 20th of 23 races on the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The seventh ARCA race held at Chicagoland Speedway is a two-day show. Practice begins Friday, September 7 with a two hour practice session planned from 1:00pm-3:00pm. ARCA SIM Factory pole qualifying is set for later in the day at 5:00pm Local Time. The event will take the green flag, Saturday, September 8 shortly after 1:00pm Local Time. The race will be televised live on SPEED with additional race coverage online at arcaracing.com.
