There is no shame in buying second-hand, even third-hand, actually. If the product is still working efficiently and you believe it's a good deal for your money, why not, right? The important thing to remember, however, is that you have to go about the deal wisely, do your research and really scrutinize the product to see if it's truly worth it; otherwise, your practical solution may end up costing you more in the long run. If you're thinking of purchasing a used Ford F150, provided here are the things you need to take note of.

First of all, any used F150, whatever year it may have come out, is always a good investment as long as it's been maintained properly by its previous owner. This particular truck design by Ford Motors is built for the long and heavy haul; that's why it's rather quite common to find F150 models from five decades ago still being used by their owners who purchased them brand new in the sixties or seventies.A lot of them are used as loading trucks in farms because they're very sturdy and the engine power is strong enough to handle challenging terrains. These days, a lot of collectors keep on the lookout for them not only because of their classic design but also for their historical value.

However, if you're looking for a used Ford F150 model with modern features, your best choices are those from 1997 to 2010. Be sure to take note of their features so you'll know if the F150 offered to you had been customized or is still performing according to design.

The 1997 to 2004 F150 took on the car-like aerodynamic form which became the foundation of all the succeeding models. This revolutionary model of the prime pick-up truck by Ford has dual airbags and class-leading side-impact protection. Features include leather seat, six-disc CD changer and anti-theft system. Cab styles were the regular 2-door, the super - which come with a third door for easy access to the rear compartment - and the super crew with 4 doors. A 4.2-liter V-6 is the standard engine, and it makes 210 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 255 foot-pounds of torque at 3000 rpm. The optional 4.6-liter V-8 is available but it does not show that much difference from the standard engine, power-wise. The third engine is a 5.4-liter V-8 and it makes 235 horsepower and 330 foot-pounds of torque.

Now, the 2004 model features an upgraded interior to enhance riding comfort. It also has convenience equipment added, such as a satellite radio. Engine-wise, there are four available for this newer model; a 202-horsepower, 4.2-liter V6; a 231-horsepower, 4.6-liter V8; a 248-horsepower, 4.6-liter V8 (2008); and a 300-horsepower, 5.4-liter V8 (2006-forward). As for transmission, the options are a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual. It's available in rear and four-wheel drive.

The newest as far as a used F150 is concerned is the 2009-2010 model which includes more comfort features for a better driving and riding experience. There's a voice-controlled Sync system, satellite radio, and navigation and back-up camera. It also boasts of a full set of airbags and roll stability control. This model is powered by a set of three V8 engines; a 248-horsepower 4.6-liter, a 292-horsepower 4.6-liter, and a 310-horsepower 5.4-liter. Manual transmission is no longer available for this model.

Even if it is a used Ford F-150 you can feel the luxury and speed that your want.
