The Convenience Of Owning A Car

The Convenience Of Owning A Car

Mark Etinger

Remember sitting down behind the wheel for the very first time and actually being allowed to take it out for a spin by yourself? Getting your license and driving is a rite of passage that most people go through and it endows upon a person what it means to be responsible; considering you are in control of a several ton vehicle and are expected to use it safely, this statement makes sense. That aside however, the car itself is a very convenient thing to actually have.

For one thing, owning your own car means being able to go wherever you want on your own terms. While public transportation is an option, you still have to wait - and sometimes hope - for the train or bus or whatever to come on time, leave on time, and hopefully get to its destination on time. Barring traffic or any accidents, it is really up to you on when you get where you need to go. That freedom is very liberating. Sure, you are doing all of the work of driving the car, but there are many chances to enjoy the ride. If you have ever driven down a highway surrounded by open fields and/or the many natural wonders surrounding some highways then you know that I mean. During the warmer seasons like spring and summer you can roll down the windows and let the cool breeze it your face as you drive; it is hard not to appreciate doing that.

Being able to use your own car means being able to travel to places you might not be able to often. True, you can travel long distances using a train or plane but you have to jump through a lot of hoops as well as spend a lot of money doing it. Such transportation services force you to go through several security checkpoints, check in your bags, and wait for the train or plane to leave on time. You do not have to deal with any of these things when you have your own car to travel with. Just pack your luggage into the trunk, a map and/or GPS, you and your family into the car and you are more than good to go. The road trip gives you and your family an excellent opportunity to bond.

Regardless of whether or not you own a new or used car, simply having one opens up a lot of doors for what you can do.
