SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Transportation on Wednesday announced, 25 communities across the state will receive approximately $32.2 million in federal funding for 37 transportation and recreational trails projects.
When leveraged with local dollars and in-kind services, the 37 projects selected from 70 applicants, represent more than $41 million in transportation and recreational investment over the next four years.
Attached to this news release is a complete list of projects and funding participants.
The awards range from an $80,000 project in Los Alamos County to install flashing speed signs at all county schools, to $225,000 for critical reconstruction of the Upper Catwalk Trail in the Gila National Forest, and $5.5 million to design and construct a multi-use trail connecting schools, residences and the community center through the heart of Jemez Pueblo along NM Highway 4.
“The Pueblo of Jemez is grateful to receive funding for our NM 4 Multi-use Trail project.” said Sheri Bozic, director of the planning and development department for the Jemez Pueblo. “The project will greatly improve the health and safety of the entire Pueblo community. -The Pueblo looks forward to working with the NMDOT on this important project.”
